The caravan went the way of the wall. They were campaign tools to get people excited. They had little relevance to reality other than politics. The current wall along the San Diego border with Mexico looks a whole lot like the wall that the ICE border patrol likes because they need to see though to the other side.

P.S. Long time no visit. Glad to see DegreeInfo still kicking. I probably missed out on some fun posts about Trump University.

The only question is whether the caravan was more of a media creation or more of a political creation, assuming there's a meaningful difference.

Oh, much fun has been had. ;)

And you have been sorely missed, Bill. In fact, you're probably to blame in part on the downturn of civility here at DI merely because of your almost five-year absence. :D

For those who do not know him, it's worth going through some of Bill's 4,000+ posts. You can pull them up through his profile, backwards by date. They will give you an example of a more civil time here at DI when we had less right-wing whack jobs, left-wing whack jobs, instigators, psychotics, spammers, anonymous trolls, ad infinitum, ad nauseam.

Yes. To protect our national resources of poutine and maple syrup. And ... did I hear Justin say that he'd make Donald Trump pay for it? :)

The most "uncivil" thing said to me was that I couldn't be patriotic because I was a Democrat. The person ("me again"? but not positive. Sorry, "me again" if it wasn't you.) was being completely serious. I am still amazed that an intelligent adult could believe such a thing. Actually the little poking around I've done, it seems things are pretty civil though? I really don't mind if people attack me for my weird beliefs though.

I would not suggest anyone really go though a bunch of old posts though.

Anyway, I've been retired and have been having too much fun goofing off.

Justin...Bieber? Speaking of whom...why haven't we deported the lad?

Not Bieber --- Justin Trudeau. But you knew that, right? And as far as deportation goes, I think Donald Trump probably likes him - because Bieber keeps buying fancy real estate -- mostly within a stone's throw (not a good idea) of the Kardashians, out there in Pumpkinville (Calabasas CA.)

But - go ahead - deport him if you must. I don't care for or about him very much - but I suppose he is one of ours.

I remember a (very) few years ago, a town in Saskatchewan that would give you a free building lot and pay for a crew to dig your basement. If you like remote living, it's a good way to go. There are also a couple of towns that have become retirement havens, where seniors can rent decent houses or apartments very cheaply. Trouble is - I don't want to live in Elliott Lake ON or Miramichi NB or any place that's remote from my family - at any price.
