Well crap. I just dug up my old birth certificate from Kentucky--or at least what I thought was my birth certificate. Turns out that it's actually titled "Certificate of Live Birth" too.

So I guess I'm actually a foreigner. Anyone have any suggestions as to what accent I should now adopt? French? Russian? Brazilian? The ladies love a foreigner with an accent...

French..definitley french accent.

I have 2 birth certificates as well. My orginal directly from the hospital signed be the attending physician complete with my foot prints and my governent issue birth certificate. The one from the hosptial states I was born in Warsaw, Richmond County, Virginia. The one from the government says I was born in Richmond, Virginia. About 45 - 60 miles difference I believe. I tend to believe the one from the Hopsitial since they know where I actually was physically born but my official records except that one birth certificate all say Richmond, Virginia.

To further complicate it my SS is from New Jersey. That is where my mother actually was living. She just went down south to have me - the joys of being a single unwed mother back in those days.

Not like the government ever makes any mistakes....:D

Maybe they'd just hold a press conference where the President would walk out carrying his suitcases and simply utter "my bad" into the microphone and vacate the White House. (note the sarcasm)

Personally I don't like Obama. But then I didn't care for Bush either and if something happened to Obama or he were to resign we'd be stuck with big, bad Joe which just gives me chills. I wonder if Ronald McDonald can be our next President?

BTW Mcain was the single most nauseating Republican I've ever seen...right next to Rick "shoot 'em again" Perry (the illustrious gubnor' of Texas).

I've pretty much come to the conclusion that the only good government is a smaller government. Republicans make it big and color it red, Democrats make it big and color it blue, but they both perpetuate the idea that the government is the answer to what ails you...it just isn't so.

I will say that I like how the new healthcare legislation forces insurance companies to do the right thing in not dropping patients who are terminally ill, etc. That happened to my mother in law before she died of cancer and I'm here to tell you it was ugly. As for mandating that everyone have health insurance? Well, that's a bit out of the scope of the government's concern in my opinion. We'll see which bits of the legislation survive the next 10 years but with all the power insurance lobby groups have I wouldn't get too excited on either side of the isle.

So what? So what if he got a Connecticut SSN? So what if he worked for two years at at Baskin-Robbins before he got it? So what if he didn't get a SSN when he was born?

I didn't get my SSN until I was 16. They never assigned SSN at birth back then. I could have gone to every state in the union and gotten an SSN back then. There was no checking and nobody cared. The SSN was only used back then to track social security. Why do you think it is called a SOCIAL SECURITY card? If you used someone else's number when you worked then you were only helping them. If you used more than one number then you would only hurt yourself.

This is just as silly as the birther nonsense.

I am certainly not a "birther," by any stretch of the imagination - particularly since I concur that "if" there was an issue, it would have been uncovered by much more interested parties long ago.

By the way, if we get rid of the "naturalized citizen" requirement it'll pave the way for Awh-nould to be the big kahuna some day. :]

Why did McCain and Clinton not make a bigger fuss over this? Well McCain I am sure understood that many Americans and would point a finger at him as well for being born overseas. Clinton is a slave to the Democratic Party and got a nice job in the end. Her new job in fact violates article 1, section 6, clause 2 of the U.S. Constitution.
“No Senator or Representative shall, during the Time for which he was elected, be appointed to any civil Office under the Authority of the United States, which shall have been created, or the Emoluments whereof shall have been increased during such time; and no Person holding any Office under the United States, shall be a Member of either House during his Continuance in Office.”
While she was a sitting Senator the pay of the SOS was raised more than once. So her appointment was in direct violation of the constitution.

I also believe the issue is closed, one can definitively make an accurate determination, the president is a US citizen and anyone who does not believe this has outmoded information. I just want to say, that in the beginning before this was the case, the people who wanted proof of citizenship were doing their civic duty. Skepticism keeps a people free.

Is the article the OP posted inaccurate information? I haven't read anything about the issue of the social security number in the replies only issues concerning his citizenship. I don't think the two issues are related. Did Mr. Obama use a fake SSN for some reason? That could imply criminal activity which has nothing to do with what this thread is about up to this point.

Just to keep things clear, I'm assuming this article is giving bad or incomplete information until I hear good data to the contrary because I've never heard anything about this before. I'm just trying to address the original concern of the thread.

Has nothing to do with the rest of this thread. If there is some sort of grand climax of a point you are trying to make with all of this (ie, Democrats are the Spawn of Satan and Republicans are the Living Saints) just get on with it. I don't care for anyone at any point of the political spectrum, because they are all blind to their own insanity. Otherwise, if you are looking for a place to troll around, try Yahoo! This is some of the stuff I read when my homepage opens:
Obama! I demand you send more black people in to outer space! build a large ark and send the entire earths population of blacks in to space ! And I demand you captian the ship!
I will pay extra tax on a project such as that!
Honestly, you are beginning to sound just like these people.

I believe all of you are mistaken. The status of "natural born citizen" has nothing to do with where one is born. It's all about HOW one is born. Obviously being naturally born refers to a vaginal birth. All of those who are brought into this world via C-sections are unnaturally born.

Well damn, there goes a third of the population losing their citizenship status. :):):)

Happy Now?

I've already addressed this matter several times, but I just want to drive the nail in the coffin, not for the adamant conspiracy theorists, but for the people who don't know any better and get caught in the crossfire....

Oddly, the WND website actually quotes from this exact paragraph, but they apparently missed the part that proves that there is nothing fraudulent about having an out-of-state SSN (the part they missed being, of course, the whole entire thing).

No one thinks anything wrong with the way this is going? I posted it in the proper place on the site and I am all about different points of view. But for all the personal attacks.....that’s too much. Maniac Craniac please stop acting like you own this site, you have been here for a few months. I asked some questions and pointed out some things. I was hoping for a spirited conversation. Maniac-You rolled around on yahoo till you found the most disturbing things you could find. I also do not like the fact you posted racist comments on this site as well.

Classic misdirection.

When confronted with irrefutable facts, simply pick up some other irrelevant argument and start arguing that instead.

It would be nice if you owned up to being wrong instead of just changing the subject but... I'm not going to hold my breath. I suspect that either you are a birther (in which case, no amount of logic or facts will dissuade you) or you're a troll. I don't know which is worse.

I know which is worse. A troll can grow up. A birther is too far gone.

Come on man, I am not the greatest typist. I am so sorry that I found wnd and started reading about all this stuff; I have to say I really feel as if I stepped into some land mine. I can tell others were well aware of this birth cert issue, but I was not. The more digging I did I found that all the court cases had been kicked. Let's not play the game were you point out all the mistakes/typos someone has made to try to make them look stupid. Talk about changing the subject (as stated by chip). I would have to say I am new to the whole politics game as I just got to voted in my first election and went with Ron Paul. So cut me a little slack, I thought wnd was a good source of news and I when I read those things I thought that everyone might want to know. Instead of freaking out and trying to run me into the ground people could have just pointed out that this was right, this was wrong..etc. I felt like I had to stand my ground even though I might be wrong as soon as I started to be insulted. As I stated before I am not a birther !

It takes balls to stand up and admit you were wrong, and I admire you for that.

What you can take from this is a lesson that's really useful in academia (and elsewhere), which is to always verify and reverify everything, and never rely on secondary sources for information you're presenting as reliable.

For future reference, WND is commonly known as "world nut daily" because.... well, let's just say they aren't exactly mainstream. It's hard to find reliable news sources that don't have some sort of bias, but fortunately you can now access a lot of the primary sources you need to evaluate things for yourself on the web, or thorough online databases of references or journals.

No harm done... just maybe be a little more cautious about quoting single sources or questionable sources. :)

Wow. I'm sorry. *walks away, tail between legs* :(

I stay away from politics because the only thing I am 100% sure about is that everybody is wrong. I thought you were a conspiracy theorist (as the birthers are), and misinterpreted your remarks as being argumentative rather than inquisitive.

I never heard of WND before this thread, but looking over that article- they quoted from a specific paragraph of the Social Security website that absolutely 100% proves their assertion to be false... yet they presented it as if the exact opposite was true. This 2+2=1 type "journalism" is a good reason to not trust anything they say.
