Literally, Lerner, the way EVERY sovereign state derives its legitimacy; force of arms.

Traditionally sovereign States offered degrees of recognition only AFTER an aspiring State demonstrated its ability to exclude other States from its territory and protect its interests and maybe the interests of its population (but that's not a given.)

That's why the so-called Palestinian State is as big a fraud as its forever President Abbas.

    Or the non-cooperative super power.

Germany prohibits any activity of Palestinian Hamas
"Regarding Hamas, today I completely banned the activities of a terrorist organization whose goal is to destroy the State of Israel,"

The interior minister announced the move, which also includes the dissolution of another pro-Palestinian organization that celebrated the massacres on October 7.
Germany is trying to fight the wave of anti-Semitism that has plagued the country since the beginning of the war between Israel and Hamas, during which synagogues were attacked and houses in Berlin were sprayed with icons of David Germany will ban any activity by Hamas, which is already defined as a terrorist organization in the country, as well as by another pro-Palestinian organization - this is what the Minister of the Interior, Nancy Feiser, announced today (Thursday), against the background of the wave of anti-Semitism sweeping Germany since the start of the war between Israel and Hamas on the 7 in October.
"Regarding Hamas, today I completely banned the activities of a terrorist organization whose goal is to destroy the State of Israel," the interior minister said in a statement. According to her, the local branch of the "Smidon" organization, which officially works for the release of Palestinian prisoners from Israeli prisons, will also be disbanded, because it spreads "anti-Israeli and anti-Semitic propaganda."

German Jew hate goes back a long, long way.

Rather infamously. But the question is whether this is that, or whether the antisemitism in today's Germany is fueled by recent arrivals rather than ethnic Germans.

Right. The Crusades started with a practice run. Before heading to the East, the devoted followers of Christ decided to kill all the Jews in the Rhineland, as a warm-up exercise. And they pretty well accomplished that. A few hundred years later, Martin Luther wrote "On The Jews and Their Lies." That book strongly (rabidly?) advocated Jewish genocide. The book enjoyed a revival in modern German in the 1930s.

Someone here told me, some time ago, rather condescendingly, that I wasn't looking at this awful book "in the proper context." What kind of context could possibly justify this vile work?

OK. Let the German authorities round up all the Anti-Semites - every last motherfather - and if we must, we'll take a count and see who's who. Dealing with Anti-Semitism, I prefer to see action and answers, rather than more questions. We know enough already, to know what to do...

There's an interesting irony in a call for German authorities to indiscriminately round up an entire group of people, but okay.

Germans know first hand how fast an "enlightened civilized nation" can change to marching hate ideologies and they are trying to stop that.
I do think that since the large Arab and Muslim migration to Europe the Hate-rage of Jews is same lady in a different dress, and masked by hate-rage of Israel.
But the majority protesting are Arabs and Muslims. Its expected, isn't there 23 Arab countries and 50 Muslim ones?

Right. What a cowardly thing to do - picking on Anti-Semites, Perhaps I should be ashamed of myself - but I'm not! :)

Seriously Steve - I get the irony you pointed out, but I still say, "Machen Sie es sofort! Im Augenblick! ( Do it! Right now!)

Pretty much has to be Russian Jews being hated in Germany now since the Nazis exterminated or drove out the ethnic German Jewish population. Those who left mostly didn't return after the war.

Still, the late Elie Wiesel said in my hearing that the American treatment of the native population was comparable to the Holocaust. I suspect he'd say the same about Australia and (amazingly) Canada. My point is, we should condemn but we have no right to be smug about it.

I don’t know what Wiesel thought about black slavery.

It seems that the ground invasion has begun. The U.S. Army developed tunnel warfare doctrine in Vietnam. It sounds terrifying.

Not sure why anyone would expect Canada to have been an exception. Even now the Trudeau administration has tried to slither out of compensating First Nations people who were taken from their homes as children. And this isn't some long forgotten past, these are actual victims alive today pursuing justice in the present.

Oh, mostly because of Canada's reputation for enlightened government and society. Undeserved as it turns out.

And frustratingly, the Government has sometimes taken the opposite tack, paying out money in lieu of hearings that would give Indigenous voices a chance to have their experiences recorded in the public record and then considering the matter closed.

Oh G-d. According to a War College paper I found online, the preferred weapons for subterranean warfare are "incendiary" which I think means flame throwers. This hideous.

It means weapons that start fires and give off heat, too.
