The Boston area sports pundits are a bit divided. Most are saying that the Patriots will win in a very close game. Some are even saying that the Giants will be winning at the beginning of the fourth quarter. There's lots of talk about Brady's ankle "injury." Here's my prediction. It will be a relatively high scoring game. Turnovers will be a key factor, especially the three interceptions of Manning passes. Maroney will run for one TD. Moss will have two. There will be one more from either Welker or Brady (Kyle not Tom). The defense will score one TD. A field goal could be the cherry on top. The Giants will play a good game and stay close for three quarters. The Pats control the ball as the clock ticks to zero. The imagination is a wonderful thing, isn't it? But Ted's not certain that I'm wrong.

    Manning will choke.

Well. there's choking and then there's CHOKING. In the first case it means that the Pats cover the spread and that, essentially, the game is over at the end of the third quarter. In the second case we're talking about a blowout with multiple turnovers, lots of "3andouts," penalties, etc.

I do have a vision of Richard Seymour descending on Eli Manning [crunch]

I don't know if I should take the deal. Betting is illegal and there are policemen on this board.

Not to decide is to decide. I withdraw the offer.

    OK, how about this:

If the Patriots score first then they will win, beat the spread and possibly it will be a blowout.

If the Giants score first then the Pats will win but not beat the spread.

I don't know; anything can happen in a football game. The Giants could run back the opening kickoff for a TD, then the Pats buckle down and don't allow a point after that.

I think the curtain gets pulled back on Eli Manning tomorrow, and the Pats not only win, but win in a blowout.

    On any given Sunday...

Congratulations to the Giants. They played a great game, especially their defense, and they deserved to win.

The Giants' pass ruch was terrific. I was really pulling for the Patriots (and history), but you have to admit that the Giants' defensive performance was a winning one.

(I think the game turned when the Patriots had Manning sacked for a big loss, only to see him wriggle free and complete the pass to the 24. Big Mo', man.)

Maybe if Brady had more than 1.5 seconds to throw the ball and didn't spend the majority of the Pats offensive series horizontal, things might have been different.

Congratulations to the NY Giants and their fans; one hell of an upset.

Ted, you could be one dollar richer right now had you taken the bet. :D

Considerations in declining the bet were: 1) betting is illegal and there are policemen on the board; 2) in what seemed the incredibly high likelihood of losing, I'm so poor I'm not sure I could have afforded to pay the debt and I'm not sure I would want my credit rating ruined even worse than it already is; and 3) I wasn't sure how one would go about paying off/collecting a debt to/from an internet screen name.
