One article is saying Whitmer and Shapiro top the list.

A recent poll (post debate) gave Trump a 19 point lead over Biden on who could best run the country. It dropped to a 3 point lead when Harris was substituted for Biden.

Trump actually seems senile, and I've been saying this for years. He is not as clear-minded as he was when he did interviews in the 80s and 90s. Rumor has it that he takes amphetamines, such as Adderall. Voters are not all that bright. They see someone who is amped up, so they don't attribute his off-the-wall comments to a age-related mental decline.

When Biden ran in 2020, I also thought he was too old and senile, but the possibility of having Harris as president was better than having Trump for a second term. The guy straight up lied about the seriousness of COVID-19. He was on audio admitting that he knew the virus was deadly and airborne. Over a million Americans died from COVID-19 while he was in office. If Trump should be in prison for anything, it should be for that.

That should have been "an age-related." Maybe I'm senile, too.

We discussed this in the past.

Should there be an age cup for presidential candidates?

    https://thepoliticswatcher.com/pages/articles/white-house/2024/6/17/age-limit-presidential-candidates-cap

"A 2022 poll showed that more than half of Americans, 58%, believe there should be a maximum age limit for elected officials, with 39% saying that age limits should apply specifically to the president. This has sparked a renewed debate over the issue of age in politics, particularly when it comes to the presidency.

Joe Biden, at 81, is the oldest American president, a distinction he's held since entering office at age 78. As Biden runs for reelection in 2024, questions about his age and potential cognitive decline have become a focal point of discussion among voters and political commentators."

I think you're 100% right. You look at an interview of him from the '80s or '90s and he actually sounded smart -- it's like a totally different person than the one who ran for office in 2016. And he's only gotten more squirrelly since then.

    He's pretty old but I don’t think he's senile.

I wish Biden had declined to run. He has been a successful President, IMHO. I think another Trump term would be a disaster. However trying to change horses in middle of the stream would be a nightmare. I think us Democrats are stuck with Biden. I just hope he can beat a convicted felon.

Like I said, people won't decide to vote for Trump but they might decide to stay home.

If anyone in here says they thought one of them won, you’re delusional. The only “winner” here is whoever wins in November…the country as a whole takes a loss because both are awful. I’m flabbergasted that these are who we have to choose from.

Maureen Dowd, no MAGA firebrand, says it's time for Biden to bow out.

He won't because at bottom he's a hack.

I could cry hot tears of frustration!

A lot of time remains to Nov.
President Biden looked strong in the morning.
Democrats in panic mode a little less.

On Jul 15th we will know who is Trumps running mate.
this may effect on how people vote.
    Some speculate NH maybe ?
    Time will show.

Well...deep breath...for what it's worth, Biden has never been popular but he beat Trump last time. Trump hasn't made any friends since then. Biden might still win. Maybe. Yeah. But the odds favored Trump even before the debate debacle.

My wife was born in Taiwan and frequently watches the Taiwanese news. In one broadcast they were covering what mainland China was saying. There amusing take on the USA Presidental race is that their combined age is 160 years old. Pretty funny I thought.

No other Democrat has the money for a presidential campaign, not a mere 4 months before the election.

Those who wanted a younger candidate than Biden should have vigorously worked on it a year ago .

Shoulda coulda woulda, woulda shoulda coulda

If the current incumbent wants the nomination then the current incumbent will get the nomination. It’s just the way it works.

Pretty much although Truman and Johnson were successfully pressured out of their races and Carter was nearly forced out.

As to running someone else, Biden had the nomination sewn up before the first speech. I admit i don't know exactly how or why but he did.

I read somewhere, CNN maybe, that Harris DOES have the money because the Biden/Harris war chest is available to both.

Polls suggest that Trump's support among African-Americans and Latinos has gone up.
