Hello. I have not experience but I heard about this Dartmouth University which is very worst university.
worst I know TUI is a very good school but what a terrible name. I would imagine this name must be explained everytime one tells of their academic record.
jgaddy: "TUI is a very good school but what a terrible name..." John: Does anyone know what it stands for? It had, of course, been Touro College, then Touro University, then Touro University International, and now, it would seem, Touro University International University. Or . . . ? Bill: "Deganawideh Quetzacoatl..." John: Now you've gone and done it. It was supposed to be a "mystery name," never revealed to the non-Aztec world, and most emphatically never to be written or spoken. You just watch out on December 23, 2012! It would have been fun to listen to a broadcast of their team playing Nishnaabek Kinoomaadewin College (www.bmcc.org). Or the cheerleaders doing the "Give me an N . . . give me an I . . . "
Just saw a post on another forum advertising The University of Mysore Apparently Mysore is an area or district... I'm not sure they make that much topical cream, but I can ask my doctor.
The name Mysore is an anglicised version of Mahishūru, which means the abode of Mahisha. Mahisha stands for Mahishasura, a demon from the Hindu mythology. (wikipedia)
What's wrong with Hope International University? I thought it was a good name for a Christian school. Maybe they should open branch campuses called Faith International University and Charity International University.
Interesting name and story behind it! Found this on the school's website: How did the town and university get the name Slippery Rock? In 1779, Colonel Daniel Brodhead was in command of Fort Pitt in present day Pittsburgh. Colonel Brodhead begged General George Washington to allow him to lead an expedition into the wilderness and Washington agreed. The troops, marching near a creek about 50 miles north of Fort Pitt, encountered a local tribe of Seneca Indians. The soldiers crossed the creek at a place where the streambed was comprised of large, smooth rocks. Wearing heavy boots, the soldiers crossed safely, whereas the pursuing Seneca, wearing moccasins, slipped and fell on the rocks. The Seneca Indians called the stream "Wechachochapohka," which means "slippery rock. " Of course, the details of the legend vary depending upon who tells the tale. Another version has the militia in hot pursuit of the Seneca, with the boot-wearing soldiers losing their balance on the rocks. When asked which version is correct, resident expert and fourth generation alumnus, Dr. Robert Watson, Vice President for Student Affairs, is likely to offer a wry smile and say, “Now the Seneca lived in the area for hundreds of years, and the militia were the newcomers. Who do you think was more likely to slip?” Choose which version you like the best. That’s part of the fun. http://www.sru.edu/pages/529.asp
We could play that game with degree names as well... Bachelor of Science = BS Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Studies = BALS
Language Schools have notoriously dumb names: Face to Face English (their online program is very popular) Jump Start Language School (bring your own battery) But nothing can top the incredible names of some schools from the infamous Oregon list: Bangalore Institute (I think the Alumni includes a few Bond Girls) Brainwells University (They aren't that deep) Firelake University (SEE Revelation 20:14) Kalinga University (Probably means something in Hindi... but to an English speaker ) Must University (Are you asking me or telling me?) Omniversity (For Operating Thetans, I suppose) PanAmerican University (Exchange 1,000 frequent flyer miles for 1 credit hour) Promis University (Accredited, I Promis!) Queens University (Won't find me there...) Saint Regis University (My own unwonderful will be called Saint Harvard University) Synergystics (The "techie" option for Operating Thetans) University of Esoterica (You wouldn't understand...)
Good point, who wants to go to "Dart Mouth"? Ouch. You're gonna need some of that "Mysore U" topical cream for that. Well... depends on how cunning the women in the Linguistics program are If that doesn't work out, maybe you can apply for a Missionary position in Bangkok.
There are at least three schools that share the "Dartmouth" name: - Dartmouth College (in New Hampshire) - University of Massachusetts Dartmouth - Dartmouth Community College (in Devon, UK) However, there is no school known as "Dartmouth University".

Tennessee Technology Center at Shelbyville, no funny name BUT their school chant is... Shelbyville, Shelbyville, you are it! SH for Shelbyville, IT for it!
Y-rag: "Tennessee Technology Center at Shelbyville, no funny name BUT their school chant is...Shelbyville, Shelbyville, you are it! SH for Shelbyville, IT for it!" John: Country Joe can add that one to his repertoire.
I've never been a fan of: Penn State Erie, The Behrend College University of Advancing Technology International Institute of the Americas (now known as Brookline College which I still don't particularly like)
Touro International University The new owners changed the name to TIU university to fix this but I wonder what is worst.
Speaking of S*H*I*T* ... does anybody remember the name of that crazy movie of a few years ago on South Hadley Institute of Technology?
