Well, Uncle Janko was a knowledgeable expert on South African distance learning and religious distance learning both at degreeinfo and at degreediscussion. Somehow, I feel saddened at the news.

    Rest in Peace

I am on the road at the moment, and it had been a couple of days since I'd checked in for a look at DD. I saw the news posted by Jimmy and simply gasped in shock. This is a loss to his congregation and those who knew him in person, and for us here and elsewhere who had become familiar with his dry wit and often brilliant discussion of academia and other topics. In addition to this, however, it is fitting to add that this is a tremendous loss for the world of distance education. In forums such as this and elsewhere, "Uncle Janko" was one of the real standard bearers for a standard in DL... may many rise to take his place, as many will surely be needed to fill his academically and intellectually (as well as spiritually) large shoes.

Saddened, and yet happy in the assurance of Janko's present reality,

    Matt

I saw Uncle Janko all over the various DL boards. Sad that someone with a wealth a knowledge like that is gone.

Very sad. May he rest in peace. It is nice to hear that he finished his doctorate and received the diploma before passing on.

    Rest in peace.

That is interesting...and a bit spooky.

It is also intersting that Janko and I were both born in the Detroit less than 8months apart.

I am so sorry to hear this news. I found his posts informative; he lived a life of service in many different ways.

Sleep on...Uncle Janko ...we shall meet again (this time in person) on that glorious resurrection morning! Amen.

BTW: Uncle Janko was one of the first persons to send me a PM on this forum and his advice was selfless.

May his soul rest in perfect peace.

Wow....it's been quite awhile since he visited here, but this is like a punch in the stomach.

It's sad to read the news. It's a big loss to DegreeInfo community.
