DJT may be a self serving monster with delusions of greatness but he does understand his audience.

Yeah, he says the GOP's messaging is wrong, but doesn't explain how he'd do it. That's good enough for them, though.

The Republican Party has a dilemma on its hands. The leadership clearly doesn't want him as their candidate. They know they can't win the presidency with him. But they also know if he is not the candidate, MAGA will not come out to vote in expected numbers, possibly ruining elections up and down the slate.

This is why they'll do anything--even interfere with elections, even interfere with his prosecution--in order to keep him on the ballot as their candidate. They're going to lose the presidential race either way, but they need him in place so they can get out the MAGA vote...and try to win their own elections.

No, he does. He says it should be left to the states. As to whether he could win the 2024 General Election, I don't think so but...I thought that in 2016.

This is what he knows best! He may think that us peons have to use a picture id to buy a loaf of bread but he knows the MAGA base extremely well.

He said he'd come up with a solution that would be satisfactory to both sides of the debate, but didn't say what it was.

Donald Trump has taken at least half a dozen different stances on abortion over the years. I'm not taking anything he has to say about it seriously.

No, take nothing he says seriously but DO take seriously that he's saying it.

He won't give details because he knows that some MAGA folks will be unhappy if he gives anymore details about any proposed abortion details.

DJT has been a Democrat and a Republican (sort of).

He has been pro LGBTQ and waved a Pride flag. He has made pro trans statements.

DJT's only principle appears to be supporting DJT. He is fluid. Standing on principles is an illusion. Attention is what is most important. A pundit observed during his Presidency that he would inevitably say something outrageous in order to turn the news cycle back to him. He didn't care that people were upset and media talking heads were going spastic because the most important thing was he was the news.

He manipulated the media. I could count on turning on NPR, CNN, MSNBC and so on during his Presidency and knew that the first story I would hear would be about Trump. Trump, Trump, Trump. He was the news cycle every day. It got old, real old, real fast.

He has a history of saying exactly that about any of a number of issues. Trump sometimes makes himself a blank slate and sometimes makes contradictory statements that only serve the moment. He's a canvass upon which you can project anything you want to feel about him by cherry-picking from his great harvest of meaningless diatribes.

He's a narcissist who's only motivation is to see himself in the spotlight while he's alive and in the history books when he's dead.

The only thing I could possibly debate about that post, Maniac Craniac, is whether or not Trump ever admits to himself that he is mortal and may die someday. :D

I'm not sure he will ever die either. "Una cosa mala nunca muere."

I dunno, Nosborne. I know this lady in Mississippi who teaches Hoodoo courses. Maybe I should ask her what can be done, here... Enough goofer dust, gris-gris and a mojo hand or two -- you never know. :)

Johann, your Spanish post before you edited it made me think about the whole silver stake through the heart meme (if I may call it that). I have never run into the reference in Mexico. Doesn't mean it isn't there but I have a passing familiarity with the more common ghost and monster tales and that one doesn't seem to appear. There's plenty of other terror fodder of course. Heck, just looking at the reverse of the 10 peso coin is enough to give ME the willies.

Uh, yeah. The only reason I edited it out was because I imagined a whole bevy of Trumpers wanting me hanged because I was leading a conspiracy to "off" their leader. I wasn't, of course.

Claro que no - the Silver stake thing is nowhere in Mexico - or any Spanish-speaking country. The silver stake is strictly Bram Stoker stuff -- from my military days in another century - 97th Transylvanian Fusiliers. Still have my tunic - awesome - black, with big silver buttons up to the neck. My best fashion find ever. A wonderful local Jamaican-Canadian lady, Sally, did the alterations (and the antique-style buttons) for me. It gets a lot of looks - good ones. Men and women.

I have the right military cap for it now. You can't just set out intending to buy this stuff, You have to be "there" where it is. It's fun!

What gives you the willies, Nosborne? Tonatiuh, the Sun God?.Scary-powerful, perhaps. The coin reverse takes its design from the Piedra del Sol (Sun Stone) in Mexico City. I don't see anything very scary here - all depictions of weeks, days, months etc. Pretty good pic of the entire Stone here: https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/d/d6/Piedra_del_Sol.png
If I wanted a scary Native Mexican theme, I'd put something together on Mayan blood-letting customs. That;s a whole different kind of calendar! Oh well...

Oh wow. I just did not see that.... now I'm scared. BTW - I recently recovered from Covid. Nightmares were the worst thing with that. Constant! Even if I just closed my eyes while fully awake. Good thing I didn't see the coin or the stone then.

Re: COVID. Weird, - and terrible - the things some people can withstand at 80, yet others cannot. At no time was my breathing in danger, although there was lung irritation -- but those nightmares! Awful. Sometimes several at once, as if they were on different screens. At least I knew at the time they weren't real. Some consolation there. The muscular and joint pains? Yeah, they were real. All over. And acute anxieties about things that couldn't possibly happen. Weirder trip than any I had back in the 60s. Just no up-side to that crap.
