One could possibly use the following model for listing non-RA credentials on one's CV:

    John Doe, Ph.D.
    123 Fisher Street
    Santa Ana, CA 12345

    BA, University of California, Fullerton
    MA, University of Phoenix
    Ph.D., California Coast University **

    **Disclaimer! Please note the following:

    1) CCU does not hold accreditation from a USDoE recognized accrediting agency.
    2) CCU is approved by the state of California's BPPVE.
    3) State approved degrees enjoy a high level of acceptance among HR managers. When the difference between RA and SA is explained, the level of acceptance is somewhat less.
    4) All of my Ph.D. coursework was completed via distance learning, using open book unproctored exams.
    5) My Ph.D. dissertation is 81 pages in length.
    6) The Ph.D. was completed in 19 months.
    7) CA licensed psychologist, with a six-figure income.

Exactly. Like any of this is ever really going to happen (or be enforced).

Nineteen months? Why? Did Dr. Doe take a break?

    Flipkid,

I think this forum is making you paranoid. Loosen up a little, you're taking me much too seriously.

I have previously placed three posts on this thread, none of which was directed at you personally. I you're offended by my
views, so be it. But, if you're going to view every post I write as some sort of comment on your intellegence (which, by the way, I have never commented on in any thread) you're simply wrong.

I think by putting state approved should be enough, since the same will go with online accredited degrees(MBA):

    Earned online
Never set foot in the University
    Finish in 12 months
    Never Met the faculty.
My Thesis took me 2 months to finish
    No six figure income.
    Unproctered exam

In the interests of fair play, perhaps we should all issue disclaimers and disclosures of various possibly unsuspected weaknesses. These could be tattooed on the forehead or fundament. You might not know someone's weakness--

    prone to road rage
    preternaturally touchy
    surprisingly dumb
    inclined to fart
    religious weirdo
    anti-religious weirdo
Platonist (mothers, cover your children's eyes)
    actually likes Cincinnati-style chili
    weepy drunk
    belligerent drunk
former wage slave at vile (but RA) university
    voted for Bush
    voted for Gore
    voted for Nader
    voted for Buchanan deliberately
    voted for Buchanan by mistake
infallible, but owns no white yarmulke
spends too much time on degreeinfo
spends too little time on degreeinfo
rolls toilet paper the wrong way
thought Paris was the Old World glamour capital
    now knows Sandton is.

    I agree, Janko!

    Russell A. Morris

    BA (RA)
    MA (RA/ATS, 54 hours)
    CPE (ACPE)
    Clinical CPE
    DMin (RA/ATS)

Disclaimer: I was given six hours credit in the BA for completion of a nine-month ministerial internship. The internship, which is a requirement in my denomination to obtain the first level of ministerial credentials, was completed five years before the BA studies. It included reading 32 books, 6 2-day monthly seminars, completion of exams, daily journaling, etc. The internship was not RA. ;)

*Totally bogus, no work done no money paid either. So I can be more proud about my worthless Ph.D. than graduates from SRU and Columbia State University because I didn't line the pockets of a con-artist to get my bogus degree. I just awarded it to myself.

At least I don't have to worry about a time bomb in my resume anymore since I came clean.

It was in another thread. And just for the record...I am being sarcastic here. :D

    Rich:

You state that you do not "claim" anything. However, you regularly infer that State Approved Degrees are dishonest (if caimed and not pronounced as such on a CV), inferior and risky. Given the aforementioned, your claim is quite pronounced in what you communicate daily: "Regionally/Nationally Accredited schools, only; State Approved schools (PWU - CA Business Programs, CCU, SCUPS, etc.) are inferior choices and may be viewed as degree mills/timebombs". Despite the fact that these schools are legally able to operate in the US, require real coursework, and require that all degrees are earned.

If you are refering to regional accreditation you might add:

Can transfer my units to most universities in USA, Canada, G.B.,etc.

Can use the degree in all fifty states of the U.S.

Can watch 20/20 or Sixty Minutes with my employer without fear that my school will be named in an investigation.

As has be pointed out to RJT ad nauseum, "legal" isn't sufficient. Research clearly bears this out. Anecdotes about the troublesome nature of unaccredited schools abound.

Neither RJT nor I seem to have anything new to add. He makes the same statements; I refute them.

You may not have anything new to say, but I believe your comments continue to be valuable, if not necessary.

The concept of a relativly open forum the web has given birth to, has expanded ideas, both informed and uniformed. With members such as RJT and Flipkid preaching the virtues of unaccredited schools, a forum such as this runs the risk of becoming a home to misinformation. While I would in no way advocate censoring their views, I feel that their positions must be confronted. With your background and research, you are one of the most qualified members to speak out on this endless debate.

So even if it gets boring, please continue.

The oft-repeated quote "A lie repeated often enough becomes the truth" has been attributed to both Goebbels and Lenin. It is this dynamic that requires each misstatment to be refuted, no matter how many times.

Degree mills can appear on the surface to be operating legally for years and then they are closed down by the authorities and it is proven in a court of law that they were in fact operating illegally.

The real question is not whether the degree required some work but whether or not the degree proves that a standard level of knowledge was obtained before the degree was bestowed. The way that this is shown in this country that a school requires this is by accreditation.

I can not speak for RJT but I can speak for myself.

Once again for the record...I DO NOT ADVOCATE UNACREDITED SCHOOLS!!! This is a blatant misrepresentation of my position. Since I understand it because I expereince it on a day by day basis those with unacredited degrees in one field..mainly with those in ministry and those who have no desire to teach in that field.

I comment based on my experience in an open forum. I can appreciate and understand where many are coming from...but because I will not burn my degrees and school at the stake I am lumped in as advocating all unaccredited schools. NOT NOW, NOT EVER HAVE I TAKEN THAT STAND!!!

Because I do not castigate ALL of these schools as all being fakes...some are trying to become US DOE approved and acreditted but it takes time and money. Others specifically in their mission focus attempt to reach those who will not go to school at all because of limited financial resources...something we can not all agree on in this forum either. That money or the lack therof..or the unwillingness to go into major debt financing one's education is a major factor in this conversation that is ignored. Even with the credibility of the Big Three assessment schools if you do not have that money, you are in the same boat. This speaks to other issues...not necessarily distance learning, per se.

Do I have an unacreditted degree? Yes.

Do I cover it up? No.

Has it blown up in my face? No.

What is the only thing I have personally found that I can not do with it? Teach in a RA college, though I have had offers I have turned them down.

Will I ever get an RA. Sure...soon as I have the money.

Am I already enrolled? Waiting on transcripts...

Will I let the forum know when I graduate? YOU BET!!!

When I get my RA will I throw out my NA? No, But I will then run a pre-RA CV and a post RA CV. In addition my personal synopsis of acheivements will be dated too, as to pre and post RA.

Are there other options that I may not have known before I went back to school in 1991 that I know now that are availible for students such as myself with limited means and are RA? Yes, due in large part to this forum, as well as aed.net. That is why you won't get rid of me!!! :D

  18. Rich,

I thought it was Adolf Hitler who made the statement. Possibly in Mein Kaumf (sp?)

No. Do a search on Google and you'll find it attributed to Goebbels or Lenin. The exact wording changes, of course, but the same idea--that a lie repeated often enough becomes the truth--is attributed to both of them. And for good reason.

Are you telling me that Goebbels or Lenin would have lied?

Goebbels had a doctorate from Heidelburg University. When he lied, he did it well.
