That would be me and why do you really think it is rare?

Perhaps this is the wrong area for the question, but would Vocational Rehabilitation(chapter 31) pay for travel/housing/other expenses as long as it was towards my intended degree. Given that I was accepted into the program.

The no physical residency is praised by students more often then not...but my colleague WANTED a residency requirement so she chose a program that offered it on the weekends

    Its definitely case by case

Im probably leaning more towards NCU's Masters and Ph.D programs in psychology. Although they lack a residency, they still have a high standing reputation in the DL community.

By who's accounting or what measure? Schools offering the doctorate I hold in greater regard (in no particular order):

    Fielding
    Walden
    Capella
    CIIS
    Saybrook
    Union
    Alliant International (nee Sarasota)
    Nova Southeastern
    UNISA
    EBS
    Leicester
    The Ozzies

Not to mention a whole bunch of other schools I would consider comparable (Trident, Jones International, et. al.).

I'm sure many others could create many other lists. But NCU wouldn't lead any of them. Nothing wrong with it, but nothing particularly distinguishing.

    My take on Capella

I earned my doctoral degree with Capella - and I am very pleased with the results. I did complete 3 5-day residencies with my program; and found them to be useful. Not only did I network, but for me, the sessions on research methodology were extremely useful.

    Good luck in your decision!

What are you looking to do? MFT route?

I agree on this. I spent some 70 days in residency in my DBA at Nova Southeastern in the mid-90's. I found the face to face time to be very valuable. As helpful as Skpe and Adobe Connect may be, I don't believe you can totally replace face to face.

    Regards - Andy

For many learners, this may be true. I simply haven't seen the data to confirm this assumption to be true in all contexts.

I think he might mean Australian universities, I've seen Australia abbreviated as OZ.

Okay...... I'm not sure if you noticed in ther past seven years, but I don't have much of a sense of humor. Not to say that I'm grumpy or anything like that, just that I am oftentimes unable to perceive when somebody is just joking.

By word of mouth i've heard NCU as in high regard, in several areas on this forum site. But are you stating that NCU does not have a decent if not revered reputation, being that it is not on your list?

Yes i know that NCU does not contain licensure within it's program. I'm seeking masters+ph.d in General/Health Psychology.

Perhaps you might want to do some additional searching on NCU in the threads. NCU had filled a need for many people, but I think you would be stretching it quite a bit to consider any opinions on the school as indicating a "revered" reputation.

I agree. I think the median opinion around here is closer to "serviceable, but unremarkable".

I wonder if the OP is a NCU shill. Nothing against NCU but it is far from being a school with a strong reputation. It is not included in any known ranking, what is the basis of this "reputation"? Just bias opinions on blog sites?
As NCU is a for profit school that relies heavily on internet marketing, I wonder if they have people that just post on blog sites that express how wonderful the school is without any solid argument.
