You can do or not do whatever you want. It doesn't matter. But what if it's not Trump himself. What about Manafort? Or Flynn? What about Donald Jr? What about other crimes? What about illegal tax stuff. What about money laundering? It's all under investigation. It's all on the table. This investigation moved beyond "collusion" long ago. My prediction - Someone's going to prison. People are going to lose their jobs. I'll be surprised if any of the dirt gets on Trump himself but his approval rating will drop through the basement. Republicans will be lining up to run against him in 2020. Pence will be first in line.
Then your promise to make an apology runs hollow. After all, this is an education forum: did you manage to utter one critical word about Trump University, an obvious scam? So to you, nothing is collusion. On the salad dressing: funny. But unnecessary. If I were hunting for the things to call collusion, how about that time Trump's lawyer asked Kremlin to help along a Trump-branded hotel construction project in Moscow? Russians, who deny everything else, officially confirmed this one. Is this collusion? I don't know; you'd have to explicitly link it to Russian hacking activities, though the timing is super suspicious. But even you must admit this is far, far, far beyond salad dressing. And this is also far from the only interesting Trump/Russia episode.
Unlike the Watergate investigation, which was a previously committed crime (B&E, wiretapping among others) being investigated, this witch hunt is an investigation in search of a crime. Any crime. Give me subpoena power and a massive budget to hire an investigative staff, and I'll find something incriminating and/or embarrassing about ANYONE.
You no doubt remember the quote attributed to Lavrentiy Beria, Stalin's secret police chief: "Show me the man, I'll find you the crime". Just to keep the east European theme going, it's reminiscent of Kafka and The Trial, where the protagonist is charged with a crime but is never told what the crime is.
People are going to jail (probably Manafort and Flynn). The only way they stay out of jail is to flip on someone bigger. People are going to be fired. I think Trump will survive but will not be re-elected. You can call it a witch hunt if it makes you feel better. In the end, if someone ends up in jail, it's because they broke the law. That's all.
Keep thinking that Manafort and Flynn will go to prison if that makes you feel better, I think you're going to be sorely disappointed. Does that go for Hillary Clinton as well? Debbie Wasserman-Schultz?
