According to one House member, yes.

A conservative House Republican is calling on special counsel Robert Mueller to resign, citing what he says is a conflict of interest because of Mueller's "close friendship" with fired FBI Director James Comey.

The argument from Arizona Rep. Trent Franks, a member of the Judiciary Committee, echoes that of President Donald Trump in an effort to question Mueller's credentials for the job. Mueller, appointed after Trump abruptly fired Comey, is investigating Russian meddling in the 2016 election and possible ties to Trump's campaign.

Franks said in a statement that Mueller "must resign to maintain the integrity of the investigation into alleged Russian ties."

You can find one House member to say just about anything. We'll see whether it becomes a chorus.

We'll see. There 's no predicting this White House. I'd suppose that Trump would know the terrible optics Mueller ouster would have; but predictions like these turned out to be wrong more often than not.

Mueller has a ridiculous conflict of interest going on, he never should have been appointed in the first place.

Aside from his close friendship with a major figure in the investigation (Comey), he's hired mostly Democrats, including Hillary campaign donors and lawyers for the Clinton Foundation, for his staff.

It would laughable if it wasn't so serious.

Also, his gardener volunteered for Obama, and his dog may be in the country illegally.

Funny how Trump loyalists support law enforcement, but only until the moment it touches their God-Emperor. At which point, smears come.

When I was in grad school, one of the professors I briefly knew, a computer security expert, used to lead the technical audit team of Florida voting machines. Some media outlets tried to create a ruckus based on the fact that he was a Republican and open Bush supporter. Which went exactly nowhere, because one's party affiliation does not bear on that person's professional and personal integrity (and he is a man of integrity and professionalism). Trump does not understand this ("the judge is Mexican"); it is funny how people who used to understand this are losing this knowledge just to stay on board. Sad!

It's a "smear" to point out that Mueller is close friends with a major figure in the investigation he was hired to conduct? Or that is staff is absurdly lopsided to one side of the political aisle, which also happens to be the most radical and violent side?

Now it's a smear to point out facts??

Yes, it's a smear. Gossip, to be precise. And you're spreading it.

I would enjoy your analysis on how any of this applies to Mueller, with documented facts if you please. Prediction: it does not.

The best story I heard recently was the one where Kelly becomes WH Chief of Staff, leaving an opening at Homeland. So you move Sessions to Homeland so you can appoint a new AG who is not recused from the Russia investigation so the new AG can fire Mueller. Then Bran's training is interrupted by the Night King who kills the Three-Eyed Raven and sends the Stark boy and companion Meera fleeing. Hodor - who indeed "holds the door" against the zombies – sacrifices himself so that they may escape. And then it gets a little weird . . .

Yes that would. As things stand, you never know what happens next, so why not this?

Which one? The one where Mueller and Comey know and respect each other, both being a seasoned veterans of the DoJ? And this is supposed to amount to personal connection akin to, quoting 28 CFR 45.2, being " father, mother, brother, sister, child and spouse"? So unless they turn out to actually be spouses, you need to make that connection "on the individual basis". I'm not making legal arguments for you. I really don't think my cramming for and passing those 3 exams at Northumbria qualify me anyway.

Well Bruce, I would think that as a law enforcement officer you would already know the way these things go. Evidence comes out during trials, doesn't it?
