I've never been big on buying lottery tickets. Sometimes, just for fun, I'll buy a Powerball ticket when the jackpot gets ridiculously big but mostly I believe in succeeding (or not) based on your own efforts. It's a hopelessly old fashioned idea, I know. So when I noticed that the deadline for collecting the reward on the Gardner Museum heist was approaching I decided to see if I could collect the $10million myself.

After all, I've watched a lot of TV detective shows and I also know a lot of people in low places (if you know what I mean). So I started detecting, you know, asking around. And I turned up a few leads. I was making progress. Then one night I'm getting into my Jeep and the next thing I know I've got a black bag over my head and an injection of something into my arm. Fade to black.
I wake up in a jail cell in what I was told was Wakanda. It actually looks like a seedy motel room with bars on the door and windows. Of course, there were the obligatory guards hanging around just so I didn't pull an Andy Dufresne. These guys were only interested in two things, lifting weights and Marvel Comics. I have never been so bored in my entire life. Eventually, after I bugged them enough, they got me a Total Gym (Thanks Chuck and Christy!) and so I got a little ripped. Well you can imagine that I'm all about "WTF! Let me out of here," but the guards are just goons, they don't know anything. So we work out, play cards, sleep and trade vegetarian recipes. And then we work out some more. Day after freaking day. Then all of a sudden they say it's time to go. I've been granted clemency because it's Adam Weishaupt's birthday. So then I knew . . . it's the freaking Illuminati! Everyone knows they're just a bunch of thieves. They were the ones who stole the paintings from the Gardner and when I started to get too close they bagged me up until they could move the goods and clean the evidence. So, another bag over the head, another shot in the arm and the next thing you know I'm back in my little house. They even watered the plants and took care of the dog. They paid my bills, shoveled the driveway and filled out the FMLA paperwork. It was all just a warning. And to make it worse, the White Lotus knew the whole time. Yeah so I got my wrist slapped. But no $10million. The bastards.

I think they let me out so I could watch the Superbowl. I can't believe the Pats are losing! BIG second half coming up!

 

I have to agree with Phdtobe. I am sure you will not remember me (because I was a lurker most of the time), but I am really glad you are back.
