Probably cribbed from the one they got from the USDoE....

I realize that, I'm just curious where they got my information. It's not like I've ever expressed interest in a technical school.

My dead cat receives mailings from Ted Cruz's campaign and I'm positive that she never (publicly) expressed interest in his brand of politics.

ITT Tech is one of the worst offenders in the for-profit space. Whether they deserve that reputation is up for dispute. But they, like Phoenix, have drawn the most intense public attention. Part of that is likely due to size and scope. There was once a time when Phoenix campuses were virtually everywhere. And if I happen into a shady strip mall in the crappy part of town, I am not terribly shocked when I find an ITT Tech "campus" as well.

ACICS is hanging on by a thread. They need to throw some schools under the bus if they hope to survive. This is a cut off a few fingers to save the hand sort of move. People ranted and raved about Everest. Yet, Everest still lives and still remains accredited. But the public furor over Corinthian has mostly passed. Now, ITT Tech is in the crosshairs and their time might be up.

The thing is that I really feel for ITT Tech grads. While I cannot imagine why anyone would choose them today, or at any point in the last ten years, I do understand why people historically chose schools like ITT Tech. And I have seen successful professionals boasting ITT degrees on their resumes. Whether those were seasoned professionals who got a "check the box" degree or legitimate career changers I have no clue. But lately ITT has taken on some of the same undeserved judgments from HR professionals. At a SHRM chapter event one of my colleagues proclaimed "ITT Tech isn't even accredited." Her basis for this statement was the fact that ITT advertises "credits earned are unlikely to transfer." As such, she turns away ITT Tech grads as "unqualified" based upon this assumption. As has been pointed out, those individuals may well have parlayed their ITT Tech degrees to RA Masters degrees through schools like Ashford. But the name "ITT Tech" appearing on their resumes may prove to be more of a liability than anything else.

So quick are people to condemn these schools that they don't seem to give a damn about the careers they disrupt by painting them as unaccredited shams. But, you know, some student loan activist doesn't care about throwing a few tens of thousands of people under the bus if it means that they don't have to pay the $200 a month they had contractually agreed to.

Was she the same highly intelligent cat who was awarded a Belford degree?

So it appears. Now, with the talk of a very expensive "loan forgiveness" plan if ITT Tech goes under the bus, can you imagine the potential cost of such a program for 900 schools, if the ACICS thread breaks?
