I'm off work today for good behavior. Is Bill even employed?

    Dear Bella,

Sorry for not noticing that you were female.

I'll apparently have to try to explain my point without any further input from you.

The point is that without published graduation requirements these 6 credits that K-W awarded are not meaningful. Since there is nothing that they can be applied against! I can think of no valid reason for K-W to not publish their graduation requirements. Please provide a legitimate reason for not publishing graduation requirements, if you can. I don't think you can because there's only sinister reasons for not publishing this straight forward information. Perhaps that had dawned on you that there were no requirements to apply these 6 credits against so you decided that instead of answering you would stoop to ad hominum attacks?

    It's been fun,

If that's true, then what's the purpose of a degree in the first place? What is a degree supposed to be saying about you?

A degree is a certification that asserts that a student's educational background has met an expected standard, right? But in order for a degree to successfully perform that function, third parties who do not personally know the school and the student have to have some assurance that the school that awarded the degree actually maintains that standard.

Doesn't the fact that a school has actively avoided all forms of accreditation, can't legally enroll students that reside in the state in which it is physically located, and has repeatedly gone convenience-address jurisdiction-shopping in search of ever more lienient licensing requirements, speak to the liklihood of whether or not the expected academic standards are being met?

I think that absent some mitigating evidence, it's prudent to assume the worst in K-W's case. In the absence of recognized accreditation, responsibility falls squarely on the school to demonstrate its academic credibility in some other way. That can probably be done, but K-W has to do it.

The public has no responsibility to assume the validity of every school and every degree, unless they can prove otherwise.

When somebody is trying to convince somebody else of something, the burden of proof always lies with the one making the contested assertion. If the assertion isn't defended, the person you are trying to convince will have no reason to believe you. People are under no obligation to believe everything they are told unless they can disprove it.

A degree is an assertion that says something abut a graduate's education. So... what evidence can K-W produce in its own behalf?

The place grants doctoral degrees, and given its large enrollment, probably quite a number of them. So where is all this research being published? What kind of scholarly work is being conducted by K-W? What research collaborations is K-W a member of? Where are the presentations at the professional meetings, and all the rest that one would expect of a doctoral level university?

  4. I agree, Bill. I think that the lack of transparency is the best evidence we have the K-W is a degree mill. You've done a good job of establishing this -- with much inadvertent help from RJT!

    There’s a student at Kennedy-Western
That’s the student that I’d like to be
What does she care ‘bout accreditation
Ever’thing’s great if she pays her fee.
    Kennedy-Western,
    That Kennedy-Western
It mus’ know somethin’ But don’t say nothin’
    It just keeps rollin’,
    It keeps on rollin’ along.

    Wyomin’ license
    Ain’t well respected,
    There’s so few places
    Where it’s accepted,
    But Kennedy-Western,
    It jus’ keeps rollin’ along.

You and me, we sweat an’ strain
While K-Dubya students don’t flex their brain.
    Write my thesis,
    Take my test,
    Fall asleep studyin’
    And I get depressed.

    I stay up till
    My eyes are bloody,
    An I sees others
    Who hardly study,
    At Kennedy-Western,
    It just keeps rollin’ along

    Dear Bella,

You are apparently willing to make up any untruth about me that you can in order to relieve the cognitive dissonance caused by the truth being told about K-W. Personally I think it would be better if the item you hated me for were at least true but of course you are free to just continue to fabricate things. Let's see if perhaps we can focus your emotional disgust on an item that is at least true.

How about if I list a few of my more controversial beliefs that you may already have an emotional investment in and you can focus your hateful emotions on the one issue that you find most comforting to you. I will probably refuse to debate the issue. I'm just listing these so that you can hopefully find a true thing to hate me for and won't be in the apparently uncomfortable position to think that it is just because I call K-W a degree mill.

    1. I generally disagree with most of the programs/initiatives that are pushed by the NRA.
    2. I generally come down on the pro-choice side in the abortion debate.
    3. I believe that here in the USA, we would be better off without the death penalty.

Please let me know, Bella, if you need something else to help focus your caustic emotions? Or if you find more comfort in just making up lies then I guess that you'll just continue doing that.

    Just wanting to help,
    Bill Huffman

    Re: The K-W Juggermill

Yes sir, it keeps rolling on like a bank robber and like a bank robber, K-W will likely eventually be put out of business. In the meantime, I'll continue having fun jousting with windmills. One interesting aspect is that every once in a while, the power of the truth does help someone and that's as substantive a victory as I expect. :D

It is common (ask "Bella") for people to login anonymously under more than one guise. But because the values listed by Bill are strikingly similar to my own, I feel it necessary to go on record: I am not Bill Huffman.

It's not common, but it does happen. In every case we've been able to verify, the offending screen names are deleted and the originator banned.

According to those values, I'm actually the anti-Bill Huffman, since I fully support everything he is against.

But....I'm not Bill Huffman. Or Rich Douglas. And you both should be forever grateful, because you don't have my life. :D

:D Bella, I don't think you need to hate Rich, he doesn't label K-W a degree mill.

BTW, OracleGuy has stirred up a hornets nest over on the K-W Pub. I would guess that Bella is one of those hornets.

We should be careful not to show up in the same place at the same time or we might both disappear in a poof!

Marvel Comics would have a blast with that storyline....Superman and Bizarro-Superman meet face-to-face. What would happen?

Not to worry Bill, I'd shake your hand, buy you a drink, and avoid any political conversation. :D

    [/B][/QUOTE]

How about the vast number of successful graduates?

BTW, I'd like to set the record straight about a few things. First of all, my name is not Bella. "Ciao, Bella" (Bye,Beautiful) is a throwback to my days studying Italian (in college). Second of all, I do not hate anyone. I never said I hated Mr. Huffman or anyone else. On the contrary, I'm impressed by the amount of effort he has put into his mission. I know you all have concerns about those who are merely thinking of enrolling at K-W, as do I. They should be extremely careful about which form of education will best suit their lifestyles and their future goals. K-W is NOT the answer for many, many people. Everything I said pertained only to MY experience and is completely true. I have told no lies.

I must return to work now and start cleaning out for the move to my new job. You are all worthy opponents, witty, and intelligent. I've had great fun and a stimulating time. I wish you all the best and sincerely hope you will continue your quest to steer people away from education traps they would be destined to regret later. And I hope you will continue to do it based on your own first hand knowledge. Thanks for the debates.

    Best Regards,
