Your post doesn't make sense. We were talking about someone turning into a homosexual. Or at least believing they were homosexual when they weren't. Your example is not that.

I'm actually a two-headed space alien called Zaphod Beeblebrox. I don't have the time to show you any proof. You just have to believe that I'm telling you the truth. I know what I am and that's all that matters.

I made the same search, Bill. I have no doubt Elbulk saw what he says - and that it wasn't made by the folks who make Pebbles Cereal. There is some AWFUL stuff produced by people who make "Adult-themed products" - or at least pictures of them, e.g. "Queerios." Obviously made to insult people. Here are a dozen-or-so samples. Couldn't find one exactly like Elbulk mentioned - but I'm sure it's out there - and it can STAY there. @Elbulk - these are not to promote or proselytize - they are designed by low-minded people to get dirty laughs and ridicule.

And in my search, I also saw the "Together" and "All Together" cereals made by Kellogg's. They are not meant to convert, but for all to get along together. I'm all for that.

My long-lost sister! Zaph dear, how are you doing? And your hubby, Grymphik? And the kids? They must be nearly grown now - it's been almost 500,000 years... Good to hear from you! :) I finally retired to Sector 4 of the Terrestrial plane a while ago...

I too have little doubt that Elbulk believes most of what he says. But take this statement as why I can't say everything.

Perhaps he believes the above to be true. The questions being was it really a friend, or better described as a web acquaintance or a complete stranger? Was the picture really taken at a store?

If the picture exists it was most likely photoshopped. As Garp said, if it was true it would be on the news. We would at least be able to find it on the web.

Yes while it would be theoretically possible to condition someone to think they were homosexual if one started early enough and had very significant control, but, that was not the assertion.

    Here was the statement.

I would consider that a different situation.

I was referring to conditioning people to believe that anything greater than zero on the Kinsey scale is "unnatural" or "immoral".

I think that it's the differences in countries. Many people in Nigeria, regardless of education or basic intelligence, are not preoccupied with things we are, like getting along with LGBTQ+ or the precise significance of whatever Elbulk saw.

Many are preoccupied with staying alive. Average life expectancy in Nigeria for men and women is around 52 years. In Canada it's 80 for men and 84 for women. It's increasing in Canada and dropping in the US where it's 73 for men and 79 for women. Source here: https://www.google.com/search?q=life+expecvtancy+in+US+vs+Canada&oq=life+expecvtancy+in+US+vs+Canada&aqs=chrome..69i57j0i13i512j0i22i30l2j0i390i650l2.10871j1j7&client=ubuntu-chr&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8

Nigerians are prey to a number of diseases that largely pertain to Africa or their particular region. That exacerbates the problem. So does poverty. According to the Bank of Nigeria, 69% of Nigerians experience poverty, using an accepted International yardstick. IIRC the poor in Nigeria experience, on average, four of the possible nine deprivations.

So staying well and staying fed are priorities. And, as Elbulk told us earlier, there are other factors to grapple with - e.g. political and tribal upheavals. Analyzing cereal boxes and being concerned with gay rights - just aren't priorities. I don't like that - but I get it.

As usual, Johann, you are absolutely correct. My view on it though is that LGBTQ+ folks are people that deserve to live their private lives the way they choose, just like the rest of the population.

By posting on this forum, I'm not forcing foreign governments to change their policies or anything like that.

Understood, Bill.100%. You and I share those same views. And I understand why peoples of other countries don't like being told what they should do or think. - especially if generations of foreigners have been telling them that for centuries.

Elbulk offered a very telling glimpse, in another thread:
They're doing that out of necessity - not because they don't love their country or its people. Conditions make people do things they don't necessarily want to. That's exactly what my favourite Nigerian Pidgin proverb means: "Na condition wey make crayfish bend."

I have to accept what the differences in conditions and circumstances mean, in terms of people's outlooks and priorities. I don't have to like it - but I do have to accept it.

You know what they say about age just being a number is not always true, you just proved that. Thank you for confirming my "lie". Google is still free and in the *ACADEMIC* world you would use it for research. Well I guess not everyone understands why its called a search engine

Oh wow, you read minds now? So I grew up under very liberal conditions compared to the average Nigerian with exposure to people of different cultures and Nationalities. My elementary school was American with people from all over, the US, Britain, Lebanon etc. I also have family staying in different parts fo the world, then I also have built my opinions and convictions since I have a brain. I guess the pictures Johann saw were photoshopped too. It's ok to think you have a superior opinion but it's not ok to think you know the next person's mental position. I'm Nigerian, and a lot of us like to eat spicy food but I can't stand pepper, so it means we can be in the same society and share different opinions. I'm sure not everyone in your society shares the same views as you. Does that make them not believe what they think?
The bottom line is opinions will always vary but seek a balance which is tolerance. I won't shame a gay person. I've been hit on by gay people about 3 times before. I didn't punch them in the face but they knew my position from my disposition.

And you clearly don't understand that those cereal boxes are FAKE PHOTOSHOPS. They are not real. They are not affiliated with the cereal manufacturers in any way.
