You are asking the wrong person. I am a Democrat. I know that I am still angry at the failure of my federal government to go after the Wall Street fraudsters who walked away with hundreds of millions. I'm angry that we are doing nothing about the growing divide between the very wealthy and ordinary Americans. I'd like to see campaign finance reform that means something. I want Ted Cruz and Jish Hawley prosecuted for sedition. But these probably aren't the concerns of the people I think we should listen to. Ask them!

You are correct with the eligibility of O vs E regarding citizenship. I will say we have a very educated enlisted workforce; while someone with a higher education may want officer rank there is a lot more to it than checking an education box.

I think people priorities are set on economy, security etc.
The cost of a gallon of gas, cost of dozen eggs, income trailing behind the inflation. Sky rocketing rent and home prices.
Even career criminals are escaping cities such as New York stating its to dangerous there.
Healthcare and many other issues are priority to most voters over the issues you mentioned, in my opinion. Not that the issues you care about like growing divide between the very wealthy and ordinary Americans are less important,I think this one is mostly up there with high priority issues. Campaign finance perform i speculate is on the lower side of the list.
Global changes in weather and infrastructure are also highly important.
Migration and border security, education and taxation etc.
I'm sure I forgot to mention some additional important issues for majority of the voters such as Social Security and others.
It will be up to the candidates to effectively promote the issues on their campaign trail.

Well, the Supreme Court just handed the Democrats a nice gift wrapped in blue ribbons. Just watch the Base turn out for the mid-terms now!

I don't actually know if this will motivate the base. Many Democrats are in states where abortion is not threatened and can travel if they need to.

I have to agree with you. Although I assume that it will more likely motivate folks in swing states where abortion is threatened in the short term. My guess is that the next time Republicans are in control of the White House, House and Senate that a federal law will be passed making abortion illegal. (McConnell will likely make an exception to the filibuster.) Which would probably activate the whole Democrat base and likely cause some Republican women to vote Democrat.

Some cosmologists tell us that the future already exists and is therefore, to us, predetermined. That might explain the sense of resignation I keep running into these days.

Perfect timing for this "leaked" information?
This was an attack on SCOTUS that compromised the integrity and will divert the Dem's from solving problems.

Other cosmologists say there is more then one predetermined futures exits and its a question of actions that will choose which one will be selected of multiple ones that exist.

Ramming through Amy Coney Barrett's nomination in weeks compromised the integrity of SCOTUS.

Clarence Thomas refusing to recuse himself from Capitol cases even though his wife was trying to overthrow the election compromised the integrity of SCOTUS.

I will also argue that the Republican nominees (with the possible exception of Roberts) lying during their confirmation hearing when asked about Roe vs. Wade and responding that it was established precedent case law has gutted the integrity of SCOTUS. SCOTUS is a cesspool of liars.

That is certainly one take. I'm not so sure.

It is odd that you would put the word "leaked" in quotes. It was exactly that: a leak.

Who leaked it and why is not known. It is not a given that the leak helps Democrats. It could just as easily help Republicans get ahead of the issue, as well as diffuse it over time by getting it out there 2 months early (and, thus, farther away from Election Day). It could even have been on of the justices. It's hard to tell since it is such a rare occurrence.

Everyone knew they were lying at the time, too.

But in whose eyes? Does it actually matter?

I find it futile to apply normal standards to such abnormalities. It is just frustrating and solves nothing. Like now, where Democrats want to complain about Republicans' lying, treachery, sedition, etc. But complaining to whom? There are no referees except the voters, and they don't seem to notice. Perhaps this will change that, but I don't think so.

I had a conversation with a New Mexico Court of Appeals judge years ago concerning the duty an "elbow clerk" (his term) owes his judge of confidentiality. This leak looks to me like an ethical violation if my judge's opinion is correct.

It is frustrating, but I feel like pointing out the hypocrisy is better than just letting it stand unopposed. I can't do anything about it, but at least I can acknowledge how upside down it is.

It really does seem like cosmology is one part science and several parts philosophy. Once you get to the point where you have theories that cannot be tested, at least with current technology, your physics start to get pretty meta.
