There wasn't enough evidence to file the charges...this was a witch hunt.

Weeeeeell, you're definitely more optimistic than I am- even if we may both be equally realistic. "Things" are getting better perchance, while the government on nearly all fronts is affording itself authorities that not a front of it can justly upon itself afford.

Fair enough. He was found not guilty, i.e. innocent, in other words, he did nothing wrong.

Irrelevant! Charges were filed and acquittal was the result!

Actually, if you listened to the Defense Attorney, he wished he could have a verdict of innocent but there is no such thing only guilty or not guilty, there are no other words! I am not trying to be a jerk about it. Just saying that every thing else is a moral discussion not a legal one. The reality is, he will face all kinds of moral judgements for the rest of his life!

Anytime you take another human life there is something "wrong" but in this case it was consider justified.

    Delta,

Consider too—could not having enough evidence (e.g., not sufficient evidence to even take before a grand jury) to convict by the prosecution also be due to doing nothing wrong by the defendant (?). Just another consideration …e.g., wrongful charge from the outset perhaps (?)

Another consideration (politics /double jeopardy): Zimmerman will have to prepare himself for the Feds to potentially come after him on a violation of civil rights charge.

The State of Florida obviously thought they had enough evidence to bring charges against the defendant. They lost! You need proof not speculation and one needs to pick their battles!

He has to prepare himself for a lot of things including a civil suit by the family of the victim for a wrongful death suit.

Actually, Zimmerman is going to make a fortune. There is a major news network that will be paying out their butt to him for that edited 911 tape they released. A malicious prosecution case against the States Attorneys office will likely happen as well.

And don't forget that they will now pursue a SYG hearing as well (believe MOM or West mentioned this in their statements) which as a result, as soon as that comes back not guilty, GZ will be immune from civil suits as well.

TM's mother trademarked his name so the family can profit off of that. They also have the settlement money from the HOA too.

I'm waiting for the DOJ to bring case against the NBPP for placing a bounty on GZ's head. Last I checked, that's a felony. Florida Code 787.01 makes it a felony to “Commit or facilitate commission of any felony,” or “Inflict bodily harm upon or to terrorize the victim or another person.” Florida Code 777.04 considers it a “criminal conspiracy” if a person “solicits another to commit an offense prohibited by law and in the course of such solicitation commands, encourages, hires, or requests another person to engage in specific conduct which would constitute such offense or an attempt to commit such offense,” or if a person “agrees, conspires, combines, or confederates with another person or persons to commit any offense.”

Of course; however, a civil suit will be likely contingent on whether or not Zimmerman likely has meaningful assets. I would look more toward the likes of an Eric Holder justice department to file a civil rights case. They don’t have a case mind you … but that will likely not deter this politicized Department of Justice under its destructive leader Holder.

I disagree—the State of Florida had no winnable case from the outset; and they knew it. Politicized prosecution from the start…

But what difference did that make? It’s merely taxpayer dollars anyway (OPM).

It's pretty chilly but all these cows/pigs flying around might be raising the temp a bit.

No. He did nothing criminal. It's different.

Well I predicted that he would be convicted and obviously I was wrong. At the same time I put my faith in the judge and jury and so I'm happy to say that justice was served. Now I'd like to ask everyone to shift just a bit and turn their attention to the Aaron Hernandez case. This will be another interesting one once it gets started.

Then perhaps there should not have been a trial; consider the no grand jury /thus no grand jury indictment Rich (?). Too consider the indictment and subsequent trial were political merely to appease the likes of charlatans Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton; such is too a tragedy as well as travesty. Shamefully, 17 year-old Trayvon Martin was the instrument used in the attempt to advance others’ self-serving agendas (e.g., a convenience). In my view, these two (Jackson and Sharpton) have no shame…

Why shift attention? THis thread has shown the true colors of the racists on this board such as Rich Douglas! People who magically start caring about self defense laws ONLY because the "victim" was black and the "perp" was "white". There has been MUCH more egregious cases of violence that ended in violence and the death of a teenager which were ruled as self defense but racists such as Douglas never said a peep about those cases simply because the "perp" was black in all those cases... Sad, thought this was a place of learning but instead just a site of hypocrisy and racism!
