  1. Bill, unfortunately it's about statistics and experience. Statistically, who is a child molester? A white man in his 30s. Statistically, who commits the most rapes? Muggings? Armed robbery? Etc. If I had a 10-year old boy, I would be much more wary of the 35 year old white guy living in his mom's basement than anyone else. But if I'm walking alone at night in an urban area and have to choose between a sidewalk with a large black male or a small Hispanic woman, I'm crossing the street to the woman's side. She may very well intend me harm, but I'm playing the odds. If, on further inspection, I note that the large black male is open-carrying and well-dressed, and the small Hispanic woman is talking to herself, I'm going to walk on the man's side. Again, odds.

btw, when one factor is weighted, the violent crime statistics come close to evening out by race -- biological father in the home. Who commits violent crime? Men who grow up without their biological fathers. Unfortunately, in this generation and the two previous ones, it's disproportionately black.

"I think that some people here are missing the point about what the current discussion is about. At this point the discussion is generally no longer about the details of this specific case. It has moved on to tangents spinning off of the case. For example one thread is"

    1. Why do black men and boys have to get harassed significantly more than white men and boys? - Because black men and boys committ a disproportionate amount of the violent crime in this country according to the Obama Administrations Department of Justice.

    2. Another example of a spin off thread is the stand your ground laws - Thank God for them. As I illustrated in one of my above posts, they benfefit black people too. Because as we know anything that benefits black people is extra specially super good (although it does suck a lot when hispanic peruvian jews utilize the SYG law too).

Obviously I am not a firearms expert. I shot an M-16 in the Army 20 years ago!

Per the printed transcript (I didn't actually watch it, I read what was reported) I think this may be the most Presidential I've seen this fellow act. Obama: Trayvon Martin

Well thought out, concerned, appropriate. I think any impartial review of SYG will find that it's far more positive than negative, but there should be no fear in debating the law...provided all parties are interested in doing whats right rather than whats politically expedient.

Well done on this one Mr. President.

...(though the original sticking his nose in it was highly inappropriate)

Oh, geez. At some point, I'll have to dig through the timeline as established at the trial.

However. . . what concerns me is that some folks seem to think it was OK for GZ to be "following" Martin. In most situations, only properly trained law enforcement or intelligence personnel should be attempting to track a subject on foot. For anyone else, this behavior is going to risk being construed as harassment or invasion of privacy at the very least. If the tracker is found out, that person risks a confrontation and potential violence. How many people like being followed? Not many.

No, not many people like being followed. Do you think more people like being followed than like having their nose broken and their head smashed into a sidewalk? Does someone following you...warrant violant and felonious assualt? And randomly if someone assaults you, are you saying you would not fight back?

Well, my friends. The time has come to put this thread out of its misery. If there is anything left unsaid, you can always PM the person you would like to respond to or make another thread with a topic more specific to your discussion.
