Not in New Hampshire. That's why it's booming there along the border with Taxachusetts.

New Hampshire has a relatively high cost of living though. Housing and such is much more than the south. I guess it's all a trade off.

Maniac, being from CT I used to think the same thing when I saw the commercials for Sonic. I was all grrr why can't we have one. Now that there is like 8 in my city I can say it's not all it's cracked up to be. What you should be wishing for is Whataburger! Now that's some good stuff! Chic-fil-a too!

I don't like how applications for jobs sometimes ask "May we contact your present supervisor?"

Obviously if I'm trying to leave my current job, there's a reason, and contacting my supervisor isn't going to make it much better. In fact, it'll probably make it worse.

Sonic, Red Robin, and CiCi's Pizza commercials are always on constant rotation on the television here, yet there isn't a single one of those restaurants within several hundred miles.

    WTF over !!

When I was in undergrad, we'd always see commercials for this restaurant chain called "Checkers." Too bad in this part of the country they go by "Rally's". It'd help if your commercials used the right name.

People who still pay by check at the supermarket.....it's freakin' 2011, people.....DEBIT CARD!!!!

What's even worse is when they don't even start filling it out until they get the total....the date, the name of the store, and your signature isn't going to change based on the total amount of your order!!!

Bruce, Bruce, Bruce... it's 2011, yes, but Credit Cards are the American Way! I love watching people try to sign their names on the pin pads. That's fun!

On a similar note, I used to hate it when I worked retail in college and people tried to pay by DEBIT card and the machine asked for a pin. They're argue that it was a credit card, NOT a debit card, despite the fact that card obviously said DEBIT CARD on it.

Of even when it is cash and they start to look for their wallet after they are told how much it would cost. Did they think it would be free? They act like, "oh yeah, guess I will need to pay!" I am the guy with cash-in-hand while they are ringing my stuff up. I know I have to pay...

My complaint is about people who take up space in the self-checkout lane when they clearly have no business going anywhere near a computer. If you don't know how to use it, and can't figure it out reasonably quickly, get out of everyone else's way!

Debit cards with MC/Visa logos can be processed as debit (requiring a PIN) or credit. Many banks charge a fee to the account holder if the debit card transaction is made with a PIN, so its preferable for those people to process the transaction as credit.

Correct, but the machines would automatically pick up that it was a debit card and default to the pin number screen. That's when the people would get all huffy and start to complain. Just hit cancel and do it as credit. The store isn't out to get you. It's just the computer reading your card's default setting.

I don't know what the economic gurus are saying about projected gas prices but this is a trend that could actually hurt me. I'm already having to make some adjustments to my lifestyle in order to simply fill my tank so that I can get to work. If the trend continues (and I don't see any signs that it's not going to continue) then I may actually have to switch jobs in order to shorten mt commute. I don't live an exorbitant lifestyle. I live in a little place. My car is 7 years old. I pay my bills with not much left over. Now there's basically nothing left over. I know that there are others in worse shape than me. Where is this going?
