I won't dissect your post about all the positive I see in it (office with no windows -> office -> job -> money -> food, etc) No one says you are REQUIRED to give away your earnings, but if you have spare money, why not help out someone who is less fortunate? And you say you do - awesome! good on you and I hope that your friends, neighbors and the others you help pay it forward. You have the right, but if you look at the world around you and you know you're better off than someone else, do you really have something to complain about? Don't let your ego get the better of you I could complain about the high taxes, but I have to pay them. I could complain about the high gas prices, but I need to drive and have to pay them ( $1.21/liter where I am) I could complain about a lot of things... but, there are countries whose people don't know if they get to eat tomorrow... have clean water tomorrow... get killed tomorrow because they were in the wrong place at the wrong time, minding their own business. My point is just that we get caught up in what we perceive to be important because it affects us directly, while someone getting shot in Egypt doesn't really affect us directly, so we can complain about the trivial things ( and we can complain because of those people who gave their lives, fighting for that right).. Often we don't know how good we have it until we go to one of those places and then come back and say "I'm glad I'm home". Do me a favor: Rather than get caught up in complaining about this or that and ranting and raving, sit in a quiet place and think about all the good things that you have and try to put positive thoughts out there. There is so much negativity all around us that it's easy to get caught up in complaining about it (been there, done it.. still do it but I am trying to stay positive and not let the negative get to me) - so, think positive
point 1 - in my life there's no such thing as "spare money." point 2 - you are the one whose ego is in the way. you think so highly of yourself that you believe that you can tell everyone else how to live their lives. if you want to "grin and bear it" that's fine but please don't lecture. it comes across as condescension point 3 - complaining about things like taxes and gas prices is a way of dealing with these problems psychologically. venting helps. it also creates a sense of shared experience. point 4 - do me a favor. try reallyreally hard to understand that if I spend 45 seconds creating a post where i humorously complain about gas prices, this doesn't mean i'm spending my whole day wringing my hands in misery. if i take one minute out of my remarkably positive day to complain about something, this doesn't actually characterize my personal psychology, my life, my existence. you are being REMARKABLY judgemental and presumptuous.
Posers gonna pose! :wavey: I like how this thread started out as a forum to complain about whatever bugged you, and then somebody did, and then somebody complained about somebody else complaining, and then that somebody is complaining about the other person complaining about the original person's complaint. Now, let's do this: somebody complain about my tongue-in-cheekedness (yes, you can complain about that term as well) so that I can complain about you complaining about me. Catharsis be damned, let's turn this into an all-out bitch-fest! :chairshot:
Ok, we can all agree that different people have different views. This is meant as a fun thread to vent - not to slam others and pass judgement. Let's get back on track. BlueMason - I respect your feelings and you have every right to do what you want with your time and money. What is good for the goose is not good for the gander (always wanted to use that one). NOW - let's move on
I disagree. In fact, I'm gonna complain about it. Now....if you'd said 'what is good for the goose is not necessarily good for the gander' I'd probably never have had a complaint. But now....gosh, now....now?!!?!?!! Look out!! :masked:
I'm not a fan of driving in the snow at night. The final 90 miles of last night's trek took about three hours. On the plus side, I got to see Darwin's Law applied as people passed the snowplow I was following for one part of the trip. Yes, a lot ended up in the ditch.
:wtf1: Did reality get in someone's way? I managed to spoil someone's cereal? My. And thanks for the douchebag comment - it is good to know what type of individuals I am dealing with. Take care. PS: Feel free to slam - I'll simply spend my time on other threads - surely that'll help you vent some more.
I've got a new complaint... do any DL / B&M schools provide diploma covers any more? Through 2008 I'd received 4 diplomas, 3 associate's and my bachelor's, and each was provided to me in a nice, padded diploma cover embossed with the school's name. In the past 2 weeks I've received 2 diplomas, another associate's and my master's, and both were mailed in thick envelopes marked "do not bend". I've already found a plain padded cover for the master's for around $25, now I'll have to pay the same for the associate's. What the hell. And for the record, I'm not looking to do frames right now.
This is the third associate's I've earned from this school, and the first 2 were provided with covers. Chaps my hide.:censored:
The NCU diploma came in a nice leather (leather like) cover with gold letters - NORTHCENTRAL. Wow, NCU out-performed on something!!!
I just got home yesterday evening and was told by my husband that we might be moving to Louisiana in a month or so.... REALLY??????????????? I just got a freaking job and was thinking we would not be moving till July/August (yes the employer knew this). So now I have to call the employer who just hired me and tell her that I might be moving next month instead of August... how F**cking nice! Just when things were looking up!
