    I don't know.
It was about the size of a Scrabble board.

I like the Scrabble board reference size.

Let's come up with a DegreeInfo diploma size reference. Say,

    1. Single toilet paper sheet size
    2. Notebook size
    3. Scrabble board size
    4. Door size
    5. Movie Theater screen size

    :D

Door size for my front door to show it off to the mail deliverers, that’d be awesome.

This gave me a good, hearty laugh. :emoji_laughing:

I play a lot of Scrabble. I mean, a LOT. So, my brain was well-primed to use it as a point of reference. Obviously, a Scrabble board is much closer to a square in dimensions than the diploma is. Hopefully that doesn't lose me any points. :emoji_nerd:

By the way, if you search "diploma copied onto a blanket," you get a link to search results on Etsy where you'll find that photo (and the vendor) at the top. There are others as well.

In the 80s or early 90s I remeber a friend earned a bachelor's degree and got a beautiful diploma with gold emblem and raised seal.
The university also provided 2 mini diplomas a sise of business card that one can present and cary in their wallet.
The name of the University escapes my mind.
    USC or Stanford?
    Anybody seen mini diplomas?

Something like this only it was much prettier with old English style.

That's kind of neat, but odd. What would one do with a degree the size of a business card? Seems too small to display the way a normal diploma would be displayed. Would you use it as an actual business card? That seems weird, and really busy. I don't think I could read all those little letters at my age without a magnifying glass or a cell phone (to take a photo and blow it up...the way I read directions on the back of medication bottles). Seems pretentious to paste it into a resume or CV. I don't know. Maybe get 20 copies made and mail it to family members along with your kid's wallet-sized school photo for Christmas?

My wife had to talk me into hanging up my two doctorate diplomas in my office at home. The other five sit in my closet, along with my military schools and medals. I'm just not into it.

When I was on active duty, it was common for some people to put up in their offices everything they'd ever received. Degrees, awards, medal citations, training certificates, etc. We would call it an "I Love Me" wall.

I do have a couple things hanging on my wall in my home office. I don't have "shrine to myself" displayed though. I can see it both ways. Degrees and credentials are difficult to earn so I understand wanting to display them. On the other hand, it seems like there should be a line. For example, if you have a masters degree do you really need to hang to AA and BA? If you ha e similar or redundant business credentials, do you really need to display all of them? I tend to display only the highest credential/degree unless they're very different in nature.

I forgot I did get one of those mini diplomas from South Alabama in the '90's, I have no idea what happen to it.

The diplomas for my BS from Charter Oak and MA from GWU are in frames and in a bin in my self-storage unit. I've moved three times in the last ten years and don't plan to move again any time soon, so one of my 2025 tasks is to empty that storage unit this year, discarding as necessary. I'll put the diplomas up on the wall when I get to them, probably in Spring.

  14. Being middle aged part of me thinks that is neat. But I look at young people today and wonder if it is a sign someone is so insecure that they need the degree blanket for validation. Suppose it depends on the buyer...
Same would go for the business card degrees too I guess. I wonder if they would give you an alumni discount at shops or all games.

I hate certain countries that have individual identification, date of birth, country of origin, and even place of birth on your degree diploma.

My High School Diploma (1988) came with one of those little laminated "business card" style diplomas. I think at the time it was expected that when applying for jobs you might need "proof" of having graduated, so you could keep that in your wallet. :-O

Romania used to practice this type of credential, and from what I'm told this was also a credential/license, that enabled a person to practice a profession issued by the Government Ministry. They claimed this reduced the possibility of fraud etc.?

I thought the Universal Life Church alsso sold business card diplomas, though I just looked now and I only see business card-sized ordination certificates: Ordination Wallet License - Universal Life Church

Still a tad unusual. I assume(d) members of other faiths don't carry credentials like that, but maybe I'm wrong. A quick google search shows some get IDs around the world: France’s Catholic clergy to carry ID cards proving they are in good standing | Catholic News Agency
