  1. Be it something in Latin, Greek, Braille, English, or something else.

Either due to the wording, format, design, or something like color palate... Which university or college do you think has the best or rather, most impressive looking diplomas?

Feel free to explain your reasoning.

I think the best would be Georgetown University because it is prestigious and Latin, and it looks impressive.

My PhD diploma from Union is quite traditional in appearance. The flourished language, the swirling script, it goes all the way. Odd, I thought, from a very non-traditional school. I would have expected a modern, simple design. Oh, and it's pretty huge.

On the other hand, my diploma from the University of Leicester IS that. Simple. Very little text. Looks like a certificate you get from finishing supervisory training at your company. It just says that I've been admitted to the award of Doctor of Social Science, the date, and a couple of signatures. It's in Portrait orientation and isn't much bigger than a standard piece of printer paper (British A4).

Yes, a British degree diploma looks really simple "ugly", likes an industrial certificate. This is what my MBA looks like.

    It's called a degree, but...

"First-level and Second-level 'Master' certifications are Italian academic postgraduate qualifications normally awarded at the end of a 60-credit, one-year programme. Technically and professionally oriented, these specialisation programmes are designed to improve specialist knowledge and provide continuing educational and professional development. In order to enrol in First-level 'Master' programmes, a bachelor's degree is required, whereas a master's degree or an Integrated Master's degree is required for enrolment in Second-level 'Master' programmes." (Source: https://portale.unibas.it/site/en/home/study-at-unibas/postgraduate-qualifications.html)

"Alongside master's programmes leading to a second-cycle qualification (laurea magistrale), universities may organise scientific in-depth studies and further education courses leading to second-cycle qualifications other than master's.
Courses last minimum one year (60 ECTS credits) and lead to the qualification called master universitario di primo livello (first-level university qualification)."

"Courses leading to a Master universitario di II livello aim at ensuring scientific and high-level education and are addressed to holders of a master's degree (laurea magistrale). Courses are not organised according to national programmes and single universities issue the relevant qualification under their own autonomous responsibility.

Feel free to discuss it; just know that this is not the design of an Italian Master's degree.

Your remark is… interesting, though it's pulling the conversation away from the main topic.
By the way, this forum has already thoroughly explored Italian master level 1 and 2, so it might be worth revisiting those discussions before rehashing old ground

Not sure what a new EVMS diploma will look like after it was merged into the ODU.

The first time I saw a UK diploma was a friend's from when he got a Master's from LSE. It looked like a corporate certificate of completion.

I don't know what my diploma looked like. I never bothered picking it up.

I've graduated 7 times and I've been in just two commencements. I went to get my first bachelor's in Albany and I went to Cincinnati to get my PhD. The rest I just took a pass on.

The one I regret is Leicester. I watched it on video and it was pretty cool. (They didn't even announce the non-attending grads, though.)

The best looking diploma? The one with your name on it.

This is so wise that I can only wonder whether you're bringing gold, frankincense, or myrrh.

Cathy Ladman used to have a funny bit about what Mary was thinking when the magi offered these gifts. "The Wisemans are coming over? They give such weird gifts. Frankincense, sure. Gold, yeah. But myrrh? Um, okay. I guess you can't have too much myrrh."

I can tell you my most embarrassing looking diploma is BS Accouning from Oxford Brookes University (ACCA program). My goal doing the ACCA route was University of London Master's, and I got the BS degree just because it required a "research project" and a modest fee on top of the exams I did anyway. So I half-assed the research project last minute just to be done. The most prominent language on that degree is "SECOND CLASS HONORS LOWER DIVISION", in bigger font than the degree designation. That's cold.

Wow! The classification is HUGE, which is bigger than the degree major. :D
