Well, in order to even meet Xi, Trudeau would have to wade through a sea of angry truckers...

STRONGLY disagree. In Russia's case, "buffer states" are neither necessary nor helpful for "national existence". Besides, in current feverish Russian psyche as exemplified by Khuilo, a condition for Ukraine to be a reliable "buffer state" is to cease being Ukraine, and be at most an inferior copy of Russia. Khuylo said as much explicitly. "Ancient Russian lands". No thanks.

    Prediction: Ukraine will be partitioned.

Ukraine and Georgia have already been partitioned. If you mean Ukraine will be further partitioned, well, I wouldn't bet against you.

Don't really see that happening. Maybe, MAYBE they will get to administrative borders of the Donetsk and Luhansk Regions. That would be really bloody, I hope you realize. Ukrainian armed forces are much stronger now than in 2014.

Yes, I've seen a couple of reporters saying this and then interviewing a few soldiers in the military. Their basic story was they had some good jobs but they quit those jobs to join the army to help protect their country. Very determined and dedicated, you have to hold them in high regard. I was very impressed. I hope that we can pour in military supplies to help those guys protect their country!

I hope Khuylo Putin is shot dead in a military coup. Although I doubt this will ever happen.

KYIV, Ukraine—Russian missiles and airstrikes hit Ukraine’s capital, Kyiv, and more than a dozen other cities across the country Thursday, minutes after President Vladimir Putin announced a military operation that he said seeks to “demilitarize and denazify Ukraine” and bring its leaders to trial.

President Biden called Mr. Putin’s move an unprovoked, unjustified attack in Ukraine, pledging further action against Russia. “President Putin has chosen a premeditated war that will bring a catastrophic loss of life and human suffering,”...

I like that Khuylo Putin is going to clean up the Nazis in Ukraine. Problem is that there are no Nazis in Ukraine or so few that they don't need Russia invading. Thanks for sharing Khuylo Putin's lies with us though.

Republicans like Pompeo, Trump, Tucker Carlson are backing up Putin!

Some of what he is saying ment for Russians
As nazis resonates with Russians as big evil.
    We know what he wants.
He wants restore Russia and see NATO gone.
In Ukraine he will install new leadership that will be like Belarus loyal to Russia.
Russian army is moving from 3 major lines.
They are claiming that all Ukranian AF is desabled.
That the goal is to destroy Ukranian military.

Our intelligence and President Biden warned that this invation is coming any day.

War has come and Russia isn't hiding behind "separatists". Meanwhile the EU continues to demonstrate its utter uselessness by blathering about sanctions. The EU refuses to acknowledge that it faces a stark choice; engage in a hot war NOW or accept that Putin will conquer Ukraine and determine that country's future. Best guess is they will lift not a single effective finger.

I cannot BELIEVE that the EU is still discussing "targeted sanctions". This is WAR, damn it. War? Tanks? Guns? Artillary? Occupying troops? Hello? And the Germans don't even support taking Russia out of the SWIFT system. Germany also has done nothing toward recovering its formerly considerable nuclear power resources because, you know, nuclear. Idiocy. Boris Johnson is (thank God) sounding decidedly British. Once again, the unwisdom of tying the UK to the rotten, effete, feeble bureauocracy of the European Union is demonstrated for all to see.

Putin drew a Red Line. Any attack on Russia herself will result in a nuclear response. He didn't exactly say that but that's what he means. This is wrong. WE should be making HIM sweat the nuclear bullets. It is true that NATO drew its own nuclear Red Line years ago but it wouldn't hurt to remind Putin of that Line and where it's drawn. He is likely contemplating "recovering" the Baltic Republics next.

Meanwhile, if all we can seem to do is sanctions, let us at least impose a complete commercial blockade on all Russian merchant ships and aircraft and all trade and finance with Russia and make it clear to Xi that continued support of Russia will result in a similar complete blockade of China.

At least Biden is no Jimmy Carter. Thank God for that, too.

Whether or not Russia is disconnected from SWIFT is an interesting issue. My guess is that they will be eventually be removed, I just hope that it is sooner rather than later. I think pressures like this are needed to cause enough pain that the Russian people give hard thought to their leadership in the Kremlin. My final thought on sanctions is that they should be devastating, as devastating as possible to caution Xi from thinking about making his own move on Taiwan.

I'm guessing that Sweden and Finland are going to be joining NATO as soon as they can.

Russian elections are neither free nor fair, so I'm not surprised that they have trouble ousting people they don't like when anyone who is a legitimate threat to power is simply disqualified from running.

Khuylo Putin seems to prefer murdering his political rivals but disqualification and jail is sometimes used.

La-la la-la la-la reference in the article to this fun song which is the background to the chant dishonoring Putin. A good thing about the insult Khuylo is that it is the same word with the same meaning in Russian, Ukrainian and Belarusian.

Fondly do we hope. Fervently do we pray that this mighty scourge of war may speedily pass away.
