    practical / academical value!?!?!

I have a friend who I recently found out that he did a Master with this "uni". He told me about their practices of academic work, which are shockingly 'unacademic' as well as unprofessional. E.g. they have to scan every reference they use in their works, high light the applicable line and attach every scanned page into the appendix of the actual work, (so a secretary can check the citations for tipping mistakes - can't imagine that you get the content of a paper or book out of a highlighted citation...) the purpose of citing is tragically misunderstood and non-academic at all????? (never heard of EndNote or similar????)

However, he is already retired and just wanted to get a degree for the degrees sake and not for his job nor to start a career in academia.

Everybody who wants to get more out of a bachelor, master or even doctor degree than some debatable letters after their name on a business card, maybe wants to learn something new, broaden their mind or get to know academic working, just do not waste your money on this 'university'! There are many quality institutions out there also for part time or extra occupational education.

So you're agreeing that this is a waste of time?

An if it's such a waste of time, why resurrect this thread after it has been dormant for so long?

    WHy WES?

If you want a foreign degree evaluated I suggest you skip WES. I once submitted one -they took 5 months to tell me they couldn't decide if my degree was equal to a regionally accredited degree in the USA, They were impossible to reach by phone and were not too quick to answer emails. They refunded my application fees. I wasted alot of time -I then submitted the same paperwork to two other NACES eval services and received approval in just a few days. While some seem to think WES is the "gold Standard" for degree evaluation all NACES evaluation services are good and their eval served my needs fine.
