Seems like a good place to drop this in....
We had the following gem here in the office:
Manager: "ARGHL!!! I am going to say the F-WORD!!!"
Secretary: "Mr. Manager! Mind your manners, please!"
That's hilarious. I was writing a post about the good and bad in Ont. and I scrapped it, because this is so apt.
Yes, Nosborne - the East is different, but I'm pretty sure you'd be well-treated anywhere you go.
So on a trip to our Toronto office once, I was meeting with my counterpart who was late to start the meeting we had scheduled. Not much, a few minutes. So I'm waiting and then, finally, a contrite looking employee emerges from his office and I am beckoned in. I ask him if everything was OK. He shook his head and said "This tech used....-he leans in- the 'F' word in the break room..." and then proceeds to tell me how he knows people say it, he says it but he cannot believe anyone would say it at work.
In my mind, in a Family Guy style flashback, I am recalling the conversation I had with a manager in my office just prior to this trip:
"Someone didn't like when you said 'F*ck' on the floor, can you reign it in?"
And as an aside, this just randomly popped into my head...
I don't actually get why Levicoff is so hung up on the username "Two Doc Doug." It would be an incredibly cringe worthy vanity plate on one's car but it's a clever username for a forum discussing education, in my opinion.
Rich Douglas's user name is "Rich Douglas", so I'm not sure I understand your comment.
Those were just the Canada-related F words that popped into my head...
Then, Steve, you obviously didn't read my original post where I specified that this was Rich's username on DLTruth.
Perhaps you were too busy operating your degree mill in Dominica, https://newworld.ac/.
Ha! I didn't expect how this one would end. This video clearly was made by people from my city of Edmonton. The Calgary reference at the end is a dead giveaway!
For more than 20 years, the obsession continues.....
OK, I understand that this is annoying, but why don't you just use the ignore - button?
To Steve F's comment, this, what other Steve said.
You know, I was about to respond to this with a "can't we all just get along?" sort of comment but I've been brushing off these comments for, heck, years now. So I'm going to ask, before you get yourself banned, why is it you keep calling New World University a degree mill?
He's engaged in wild rhetoric for decades to pester people. It doesn't have to be based in reality.
I've never met him. A mutual colleague who met him once said he was nice in person and rather reserved, from what he could draw from that single encounter.
Oh I know. And it wouldn't be the first time I asked for a rational explanation of a view and got a "cUz i wRiTe bOoK 25 yEaRs aGo!" response. At the same time, if there is actually a reason or series of reasons that are well thought out, it could make an interesting discussion. Though I think many interesting discussions were derailed when the operator or administrator of such interesting schools are immediately and viciously attacked once they try to engage in dialogue with this board.
Yes, I thought is was sad, too. You may think what you want about rodmc, but the discussion climate then was not really enjoyable; and I do not think that more or less claiming every education entrepreneur is a whore was helpful.
This is hilarious.
I haven't written a book in this field because there hasn't been anything to say...yet. I'm working on one in another field for other reasons. (It will also be self-published.)
Rodmc is far from the only school operator who's been savaged - rightly or wrongly - in these pages. And I'm far from guilt-free on this issue, although I like to think that the people I singled out mostly deserved what they got.
In Rod's case, he was talking up a school he was currently running and I remembered that a couple of years previously he'd been posting about his previous school, Excel College. a school that had no DoE or CHEA-recognized accreditation, neither RA nor NA and operated with State permission only. Ultimately, that school had closed. I figured Rod had had enough free advertising here for TWO schools, no less, and so I gave a link to his previous posts. Should I not have?
When someone comes on here with the sole purpose of shilling, well then, there is not much invitation for dialogue as much as criticism.
It's the people who genuinely and earnestly came here with answers to questions we had and who are immediately and ruthlessly called names where I feel we lost an opportunity.
As it relates to Levicoff, I am not surprised to hear he's a generally quiet and reserved guy in real life. There are plenty of socially awkward people who use the internet as the outlet of their frustrations. The sad thing about it is, while Levicoff mocks Rich for not absorbing the wisdom of his two doctorates, Levicoff is behaving like a jackass and making it very hard to show him the respect his accomplishments may well deserve. We speak of John Bear with reverence and respect around these parts. There's no reason we couldn't do the same for Levicoff. The difference is that one behaves like a civilized member of society and doesn't call people names and mock them and the other does. My absolutely favorite Levicoff comments are the ones that offer insight and involve actual dialogue.
So, come on Solo Doc Steve, lighten up a bit and join us on the virtual veranda for a cigar and a laugh. Your antics make you stand out here. But if you get yourself banned you'll be forced to go to someplace like Reddit where your taunts are a dime a dozen.
Yes, indeed . And a damn good outlet it is! Been using it for 27 years. Cheaper than all those tranquilizers...
Here's another: Two Ph.D.s
1. Capella - Public Safety
2. Nova - Criminal Justice (defended today - 10/5/20)
He was an assistant professor at UMES before going to NSC
Those are pretty similar degree areas. Not exactly the same, but closer than I would probably go. JMO
Separate names with a comma.
