    Establishment will not fight.
They didn't back Trump when he started the presidency and it took them some 7 months in to the presidency to start doing something.
GOP didn't unite behind the president when he started his presidency.
This is why Trump said that McConnell gave up to fast.

Our sore loser President is using the fake election fraud silliness to threaten democracy in our country. Here's the stories behind these two points.

First Trump lies about there being election fraud should be proven as false to reasonable people by having those false claims being thrown out of court almost 60 times. However, we do have a person or two running around that only believes folks that parrot Trump lies. For those folks that disbelieve real reporting telling the truth and only believe Trump lies being pushed on Fox News and Newsmax, sorry to damage the cocoon of lies the web lies you are so comfortable in but Fox News and Newsmax are in the process of rolling back some of their previously told lies.

Fox, Newsmax shoot down their own aired claims on election

The second point of the first line of this post is this story.

Here's a mice article on that.
Trump's talk of martial law could be taken by far-right groups as a violent call to action, former DHS official says
    https://www.businessinsider.com/trump-martial-law-far-right-violence-dhs-neumann-2020-12

Here's a Fox News article on the martial law story. I like this one because Trump calls the story fake news which is encouraging because he probably won't try it. Probably because the Pentagon repeated their statement that they will not get involved in elections after Flynn's interview on Newsmax.

The really good news is that we get rid of Trump in less than a month!

The bad news is we won't be rid of COVID-19 by then.
The other really good news is: hopefully this thread will die in about a month and Bill and Lerner will get some sleep.

I don't think Trump moved by what others are saying. Definitely not by what Lerner is saying.
It doesn't mater what others say, he will decide when the game is over and how he will play the final move.
I think the talk about martial law is fake news, its not going to happen. He will wait for a few last challenges that his team is filing/filed.
    Then play his final move.
It most likely to be on some golf court in some resort, Florida or some other place.

Unfortunately the new strain of COVID 19 seems mutating and some are saying its already in N. America.
And skeptics and conspiracy theorists saying about the vaccine that its all fake, that there is no vaccine and the new strand is insurance policy for time when "vaccine" will fail.
The new strand mutation is simply the same virus and people misbehaving that is the real reason for infections rapid spreading.

7 month old video is not very encouraging. But maybe we do have a Christmas miracle?
I'm getting one as soon as its available for my group age etc. The circle of people I know with COVID19 is getting tighter.

Adhering to the Trump is a sore loser theme. Here's an Associated Press article. (Note: the associated press is in the most fair balanced and accurate reporting of all news sources category.)

    quote:
President Donald Trump’s sudden demand for $2,000 checks for most Americans was swiftly rejected by House Republicans as his haphazard actions have thrown a massive COVID relief and government funding bill into chaos.
    ...
The congressional Republican leaders have been left almost speechless by Trump’s year-end scorching of their work.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell and House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy helped negotiate the year-end deal, a prized bipartisan compromise, that won sweeping approval this week in the House and Senate after the White House assured GOP leaders that Trump supported it.

Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin boasted that the $600 checks all sides had agreed to for Americans would be in the mail in a week.

Instead, Washington is now hurtling toward a crisis with COVID aid about to collapse, as the president is at his Mar-a-Lago club. He has been lashing out at GOP leaders for refusing to join his efforts to overturn the election that Joe Biden won when the Electoral College votes are tallied in Congress on Jan. 6.

Washington need no hurtling toward the crisis. I understand the frustration and this should have been handled differently. But it is what it is now and Presidential signature is needed.
Why didn't they approve 2,000$ payments?
Dem's supported the increase in payments. The biggest winner of the proposal will be the American people and it can be passed fast.
I didn't read the by-partizan bill but from being told there is like 17 mil $ for Pakistan gender programs, money for 2 more national museums, millions for internet freedom, millions for foreign aid, and some other non COVID related funding in the bill? The bill should be more focused on reliving damage by COVID to reduce the suffering of the people.

It's interesting to watch Congressional Republicans try to negotiate their cleft stick. Each politician has to make a pretty public declaration whether they support Trump blindly, thus ignoring reality, or want a place in the post-Trump world. Vice President Pence is the poster boy. For Pence, it's a no-win situation. Meanwhile, Trump is poisoning the 2024 Presidential Election well, something that affects Pence personally.

Congressional Democrats must be enjoying themselves.

This is the very thing Mitch McConnell wanted to avoid in the Senate by not challenging the Electoral Vote.

I think Mitch wants to hasten the day that the party is no longer in a Trump choke hold. The choke hold will be loosened a bit January 20 obviously. I'm guessing the choke hold will remain in place for a while though.

I think from what is published on other media that there are 9 + sate representatives and GOP senators that will object electoral votes for Biden for their states on Jan 6th.
I'm not familiar with the process. But on Jan 6th there will be the counting of votes.
These objections will trigger each chamber to hold a debate for 2 hours not sure what happens after.

    Just reporting what is read.

And here is some additional spending in the "COVID" relive bill

You're not sure? Allow me to enlighten you. The House will vote down any objection and enough non crazy GOP Senators will join with the Democrats to defeat the challenge there, too. Much time will be wasted and Pence, unless he absents himself that day, will declare Biden and Harris elected.

In the exceedingly unlikely event that the Senate does uphold an objection, the House will defeat it and Pence will declare that Biden and Harris won.

In the quite likely scenario that McConnell succeeds in crackling the whip over his party, no Senator will join any objection and neither house will waste their time. Then Pence will declare that Biden and Harris won.

What Nosborne said is absolutely correct. The only possible quibble is whether or not 2 hours per state of useless sound coming out of the mouths of senators and representatives is really a waste of time significantly greater than most of the time spent speaking in those chambers? I would tend to agree it's a bigger waste of time than usual for them but can see the other side of that argument as well.

Trump was represented by Mnuchin throughout the whole many months long negotiation process. The Dems wanted $2000 per person. It was the Republicans, including the White House that wouldn't go above $600 per person. Trump then changed his story that it had to be $2000 per person. Why? I think the summary answer is that chaos and pestilence is what defines Trump's presidency. He probably just wanted to get revenge on Senators that Trump thought was not pushing his bogus election fraud message hard enough and so they are being punished along with the rest of the country. Also, Lerner, this is the whole budget bill not just a covid19 relief package.

As usual, you've been told lies. COVID bill is technically attached to the omnibus spending bill that has all these other spending programs in it. Virtually every single item you listed are there, in part, because it was in the budget proposal submitted to Congress by... wait for it... Trump White House. He's blowing smoke, as usual.

$2000 payments were in the initial bill passed by the Democratic House. It got reduced to $600 because Republicans would not agree to it. What Trump tries to do is to derail the stimulus through "pocket veto" trick and hurt the economy (and all Americans), because he knows Biden/Harris admin will be blamed for it. Truly despicable.

This makes the discussion whole, as multiple sides and angles represented.
The responses and counter responses allow to examine things better.
I think its a huge blow to the strangling people who desperately need source of income to survive.
Instead of arm wrestling to check who will prevail and who will break, GOP needs to take action to approve the 2000 and be done with, GOP will gain political points from this as well.
Unless President Trump signs the current bill.
And on the budget deal, again why are there these listed items? Are these really important now?
But this is another discussion. I didn't read even the summary of the proposed relive bill.
Now my question what % of the 900 is for COVID relive and what % is for other spending.
I though the whole 900 was COVID relive?

    The other side expectations:
Unlike the left I don't think these sources are lying or making things up.
The truth is somewhere in between.

Reality is not decided like coming to a compromise in politics, by looking in between! OANN is not much better maybe even worse for a media source than is Rushlimbaugh.com. OAN is telling you lies and keeping you in that cocoon of lies that you exist in.

    quote:
    • Overall, we rate One America News Questionable based on far-right bias, lack of sourcing, promotion of conspiracy theories, and propaganda as well as numerous failed fact checks. OAN is not a credible news source.
    Analysis / Bias

In review, OAN is a far-right biased news channel and website that uses moderately loaded words in headlines and articles such as this: Sen. Schumer Refuses To Back Down On Border Wall Funding. This article does not offer sourcing at all. In another article Senate Floats Restrictions On Detentions Of Illegal Aliens In Government Spending Bill, there is again a lack of sourced information.

One America News writes articles that are very short and easy to read. Their aim is to keep stories under 1 minute long. Story selection almost always favors the right and in particular President Donald Trump. An article in AdWeek describes how the owner of Herring Networks directs his newsroom to favor Trump: “According to internal emails, Herring has directed his channel to push Trump’s candidacy, scuttle stories about police shootings, encourage antiabortion stories, minimize coverage of Russian aggression, and steer away from the new president’s troubles, according to more than a dozen current and former producers, writers and anchors, as well as internal emails from Herring and his top news executives.”

OAN has also promoted right-wing conspiracies such as the Seth Rich Murder and that there was no evidence of chemical attacks in Syria. Further, during the Coronavirus outbreak of 2020 they have frequently promoted
misinformation as evidenced by the failed fact checks below.
