Oh yes - that guy. He could do a good job, I'm sure. If I were him, I'd get in touch with Liberty right now. :)

If um... that person waits too long, the Liberty folks might decide they need an exorcism - or at least a disruption. In that case, I wonder if a certain former trucker who holds a Ph.D. could be coaxed out of retirement for $1,000,000 a year? He would likely enjoy the disruption exercise -and he's proven his abilities in that dept. many times. He probably has the religion part down cold, too. I seem to remember his Dissertation had to do with a Prison Church, didn't it?

Oh, I'd LOVE to be a fly on the wall of that interview room! :)

While we had been willing to extend grace and understanding to Jerry Falwell, Jr. before, once the revelations about his past personal life came more fully to light, we acted swiftly and decisively to ask for his immediate resignation, which we received.

Some may say that all the signs were there for a long time before last week. It’s certainly fair to say that there were questionable comments made, worrying behavior, and inappropriate social media posts, but all the signs were not there until the start of last week. While we still didn’t know the full scope of the matter, we have learned enough about the past to know that we had no choice but to take the leadership of Liberty University in a new direction.

We are also committed to learning the consequences that have flowed from a lack of spiritual stewardship by our former president. One of the leading forensic firms in the world has been retained by Liberty University’s Board of Trustees to conduct a thorough investigation into all facets of Liberty University operations during Jerry Falwell, Jr.’s tenure as President, including but not limited to financial, real estate, and legal matters.

Of course, moving forward, we are very mindful that we must seek leaders who demonstrate a full commitment to the spiritual mission of Liberty University by words, actions, and example. That is why, in addition to starting a search for a new president, we are also reviewing options to establish a new role in the top leadership of the University for someone who will serve as a spiritual coach, mentor, and guide to help ensure that every member of the University leadership fulfills his or her spiritual responsibility to live out the Christian walk expected of each and every one of us at Liberty.

The Falwell Jr scandal has been known for quite a while. They knew it, and tolerated it, for years. That photo was merely the tipping point. It's not like Liberty found out about Falwell Jr from that.

Or they had a hunch but did not think they had enough concrete evidence to act, given the legal battle that would ensue if they did not have a 'smoking gun'.

It was in all the papers long before this current dust-up. The poolboy, the 7-figure investment for him, everything. They knew. They just hoped it would blow over. It blew up instead.

Some good news out of Liberty Law (as usual)...

I don't disagree that they thought something was up. But there is a big difference between that and actually having solid actionable evidence to terminate someone, particularly when the lawsuit will be expensive and high profile because of multi million dollar contracts. Neither of us was in on the meetings so I guess we will never know for sure.

Interesting thread. Jr. definitely a piece of work. His actions had me thinking about doing a second bachelor degree and removing Liberty from my resume. I just didn't have the money or time.

I was aware of the Miami pool boy drama over a year ago, and knew this day would come.

I hear pool boys don't generally make much money ... That seems so wrong. They work hard.

I read an article saying Jr. and his wife turned being a pool boy into a lucrative profession.

Strange situation. Pictures that the infamous Cohen helped make go away. The only thing Falwell said is they were not of him. We can presume they were of his wife. Perhaps wife and Pool Boy. Whether he watched or not is unknown. But was evidentally involved in arranging situations to the monetary advantage of the pool boy. Whether it was extortion or hush money we may never know.

If it was extortion, can't the pool guy be prosecuted?

Mess! If he was watching, he should not have put himself in the position to begin with. If he was being extorted that does not end well and should have gone to Law Enforcement.

Some wonder if the price of Cohen's assistance wasn't the change of heart endorsement that suddenly enthusiastically came up.

I think Liberty's done the right thing. They're doing their best to forget Jerry Jr., move on and forestall any recurrence of this type. May be a good step for all of us here. I've had a little fun bashing the guy too, I'll admit, and I don't think anything here that rained down on him was out-of-line. But enough is enough. It gets old. Liberty is still there, Jerry Jr. isn't, and there's still lots to talk about. More now, actually. How about those Law School grads? Awesome!

Oh, - but the outlook for new entrants! Hopefully, these people, who have succeeded so brilliantly at the very start of their careers, will all be able to secure suitable employment in their chosen profession. We here certainly hope so, I'm sure.
