My parents used to be members of a Mormon polygamist fundamentalist group. The folks in that group used to preach the exact same kind of nonsense. I suspect that it is common over the past multiple thousands of years (at least) for some folks to have these kind of views. It resonates with many folks and makes people feel special in history. If this is fairly widespread in the Israeli right-wing then they are even more detached from reality than I thought.

The current circumstances and the coalition political map enables this influence increasingly. Maybe if the coalition didn't rely on those couple mandates, this would be different.
If one reads the letters of the leaders of the modern Zionist movement, in late 19th century and early 20th century, early 1900s, they were talking about maybe their efforts will bring to establishment of the Jewish state in 300 to 400 years in the future. They couldn't imagine that it will happen in their century, for those who were young in their lifetime. This was due to circumstances and geopolitical forces, Post WW2, Jewish refugee issues, influential Jewish families working with countries leaders, etc., the fighting spirit of the refugees, it appeared miracles, the survival of small Jewish settlement, young state against many odds and multiple Arab armies in 1948, and 1973 and other, all miracles. Then we know, they need miracles now as well.

IDF rescued 4 Israeli hostages in Gaza! Unfortunately some hostages were believed to have been killed. Less unfortunately over 200 Palestinians were killed in the operation, at least according to Hamas. Now I'm not saying that a Jewish life is in general worth more than a Palestinian life but in this specific case because of the unfortunate circumstances I'm saying that it is true.

According to CNN , the CIA says that Netanyahu thinks that he can get away without offering a specific plan for post-war Gaza. Basically, Biden won't force the issue. He's probably right.

I am very afraid that the reason Netanyahu has not laid out his plan isn't that he has no plan but that the plan he must implement to keep the support of the Settler Religious Zionists is too dangerous to publish. Netanyahu intends to end Arab Gaza. As Minister Smotricht is already saying, the West Bank will get "the same treatment ".

It's best to believe the promises monsters make.

Indeed, this was brave and complex operation in area that was more or less functional.
How many terrorists among the 234 Palstinians? What a desaster Hamas caused the people of Gaza and Israel.
The families that guarded the hostages and the Hamas guards among the killed.
    Hamas still holds 116 hostages.
Israeli Border guard unit commander died after suffering injuries during the rescue operation. The operation will bare his name. Operation Arnon.

Commandant Arnon Zamora, the IDF fighter who was mortally wounded this morning (Saturday) during the operation to free the hostages Noa Argamani, Almog Meir, Andrey Kozlov and Shlomi Ziv from Hamas captivity - died of his wounds. He was taken to a hospital, where the medical team fought for his life - but finally determined

The 36-year-old Zamora lived in Sde David, married and the father of two

Hamas are the monsters. Palestinian terror are the monsters

Palestinian political violence has targeted Israelis, Palestinians, Lebanese, Jordanians, Egyptians, Americans and citizens of other countries. Attacks have taken place both within Israel and the Palestinian territories as well as internationally and have been directed at both military and civilian targets.

This is very true. It doesn't mean that there can't be monsters on both sides though. If after the fighting is basically over Netanyahu tries to drag his feet on rebuilding Gaza then we'll know that he too is a monster that wants to take their land and homes away.

This is more complex, even of Bibi was replaced by let's speculate Ganz. What does it mean rebuilding Gaza?
As long as Hamas is involved in any leadership of Gaza, there will be a feet dragging, because fighting will resume.
Israelis lives lost, Palestinian lives lost, should be for peace, security, for all.
Anything different will repeat the war.
And Iran will derail any deal, Iran is determined to attack Israel with all of it proxies.
Who will prevent Gaza from becoming new Hamastan?
    Monsters are Hamas.
Israel are not monster, IDF one of the most moral forces on Earth.

We already know that his Religious Zionist coalition partners want exactly that because that's the platform they run on. Netanyahu wants not to go to trial for corruption and end up in prison ()as Israeli politicians sometimes do). As long as he remains in office, that trial is put off. So whatever THEY want, HE will do.

Houthi rebels in Yemen launched a solid-fuel missile, the "Palestine," at Eilat, Israel, AP reported.
Fabian Hinz, a weapons expert at the London-based International Institute for Strategic Studies, wrote on X that the Palestine missile reassembled the Iranian-developed Fattah 1 and the Kheybarshekan 2, both solid-fuel missiles.

How many more evidence you would need to hold the barbaric regime of Iran accountable for terrorism around the globe.
Regime change in Iran is a must.

Civilians holding hostages, are accomplices to Hamas, hostiles? Civilian means non-combatant. Holding hostages, you lose this status?
The hostage keepers were enemy combatants! And the terrorists as usual hiding behind "civilians" who are holding Israeli civilians hostages.

Hamas are monsters, but "the monsters" implies no others, which sadly isn't true.

I don't see how that responds to what Bill said.

I think I responded to earlier Bill's post about catulties on Gaza side from the operation.
I tried to say that the catualties are kidnappers, criminals in uniform and not in uniform. The only victims are children, who are put in harms way by their parents who support Hamas.l, and sacrificed by Hamas.
It's not innocent Gazans that try to appeal to Western media, It's enemies of Israel, who hate Israel, support Hamas in their actions against Israeli civilians.
They are viewed as partners in crimes against Israel. It's jurnalists of El-Jazera and medical professionals all guilty of kidnaping Israelis. More info will be coming out.
Their supporters protested in front Whitehouse today.
Agitators who held bloodied mask of President Biden etc.

I don't know if Israel will have any safety if they leave Gaza, maybe they have no choice but controll fully Gaza, or face another Oct 7 massacre of Israelis.
Should have Israel stayed in Lebanon ?.
Now they deal with much stronger Hezbolla.

'You had some very good people in that group, but you also had people that were unspeakably evil people, on both sides.' - Tonald Drump*

Netanyahu is already a monster for what he's done. Any criticism of his tactics is met with accusations of anti-Semitism. I mean, really? We're going to play dumb rhetorical games to circumvent accountability when tens of thousands of innocent people have been slain and hundreds of thousands are in danger of exposure, disease, dehydration and starvation?

War is messy, and Hamas bears blame for innocent Gazan deaths as well as for their direct murdering of Israelis. But, Netanyahu could have done better here and simply doesn't care that there are civilians getting caught in the crossfire. I don't know what the precise threshold is, but at some point, persistent incompetence starts to look awfully similar to malice.

*This is a parody, not purported to be the actual, original quote.

What "incompetence"? Netanyahu's actions look like mistakes and incompetence only if you don't think all of Palestine should belong to Israel and be free of Arabs. If you DO think that, Netanyahu is managing to accomplish that goal without losing the diplomatic and military support of the United States. Moreover, he has postponed his personal day of reckoning indefinitely.

NGL, I'm having a lot of trouble following what you're saying here.

I think you and Nosborne are agreeing that Netanyahu's apparent incompetence is probably better explained as malice. I believe Netanyahu is hateful and Islamophobic.

Al Jazeera journalist, Abdullah Jamal a senior correspondent on Al Jazeera's English channel- held hostages Almog, Shlomi and Andrey
The abductees were found in Jamel's house, next to his family members. Abdullah worked at the newspaper as a photographer, editor and reporter. According to the report, he was killed during the attempt to prevent rescues. The Qatari network denies any connection. IDF: "This is further proof that the terrorist organization Hamas uses the civilian population as a human shield"

This is not the first time that members of the media have been suspected of collaborating with the October 7 massacre. Among other things, several photographers of international agencies, including the AP agency and the New York Times, were accused of having known in advance about the intention to carry out the massacre and even participated in documenting it instead of helping the murdered and kidnapped.
A journalist and a doctor r Dr. Ahmed Al Jamal On the left his son (journalist) Abdullah al-Jamal were among the family members holding Israeli hostages in their home in Nuseirat in the central Gaza Strip, the Israel Defense Forces confirmed on Sunday
Many in Israel say that Gaza has 2 million terrorists.

El Jazira denies that Jamal worked there.

After WWII most Americans probably had similar thoughts about Japan and Germany citizens. Instead of further punishing and destroying Japan and Germany we treated them with respect. The USSR treated East Germany poorly. Germans don't generally like Russia. Germany and Japan are now two of our best allies. That is because we had leaders that were wise and didn't cater to the hate many Americans had for Germany and Japan. The USA had good leaders, unlike the horrible Netanyahu.
