Lieberman calls for a nuclear attack on Iran? "To use all the abilities at our disposal"

    Walla news system

    Last updated: 7.7.2024 / 23:10

The former defense minister sharply criticized the government's conduct against Iran, and claimed that Israel should stop dealing with its affiliates (Hamas, Hezbollah) and focus, in his words, on the source of the problem. "We must defeat their nuclear program.

Dropping atomic bombs unprovoked on Iran sounds like a great way to get the whole world to hate Israel. I suspect that even the USA would be in the shocked and hate category. Just proposing such a thing is very scary.

    I think, it's cryptic.
Liberman said , to use everything to defeat Iran.
Some deduct this may include WMD.
Also I think Iran is behind the attacks on Israel and directly threatening to destroy Israel.
Liberman. did said that US used WMDs in Japan, in a way to support his statements.

But if a deal reached between Hamas and Israel, fighting may stop, for this round.
There is a passage in the Hebrew Bible,
"If someone rises to destroy yiu, arrise first and destroy them"

Bringing this argument down to the neighborhood level, it's like a bully picking on his neighbor. He's toilet papered the house and hit the kid living at the house. The bully then threatens to really start harassing his neighbor so the neighbor drops a 200 pound bomb on the bully's house when they're having a family reunion.

No question that Iran is evil. Most of the world recognizes this and is why Iran has some pretty stiff sanctions already levied against them. Dropping atomic weapons on them can't be the best way to approach this problem.

Quoting a defense from the bible might sound good to folks in Israel and a few folks in the USA. For the rest of the world, it is a laugh worthy argument.

And even those who are Biblically inclined might dismiss that as cherry picking.

Bible prophecies, from thousands of years back, predict the time like this.

Israel performed a preemptive war in 1967, 6 day war appears to be rising first to strike the enemy, and it seems highly successful at that time.

That is not really a prophecy. It is more of a parable.

prophecy (countable and uncountable, plural prophecies)

    1. A prediction, especially one made by a prophet or under divine inspiration.
French writer Nostradamus made a prophecy in his book.

    parable (plural parables)

    1. A short narrative illustrating a lesson (usually religious/moral) by comparison or analogy.
In the New Testament the parables told by Jesus Christ convey His message, as in "The parable of the prodigal son".
Catholic homilies normally draw on at least one Biblical lecture, often parables.

Agree, just that my reply was to a different point, to a point that was made about nations hating Israel.

Gaza hostage-ceasefire deal faces new hurdles as Israel sets conditions. Here’s what to know
Nadeen Ebrahim, Ibrahim Dahman, Eugenia Yosef and Tim Lister, CNN

    https://www.yahoo.com/news/developments-gaza-ceasefire-talks-raise-145137347.html

Optimism about an Israel-Hamas ceasefire-hostage agreement waned this week as Israel set conditions for the deal and Hamas warned that Israeli actions in Gaza could jeopardize the talks.

I think what Steve was saying was that the world already hates Israel in large part for what they have done in Gaza. But said with a slight tongue in cheek for the humor.

I'm sure the hate would only deepen if Israel launched an unprovoked nuclear strike against Iran. The far right-wing folks in Israel have lost almost all of my respect. It truly is causing massive damage to Israel's reputation in the world.

I think that Iran already provoked Israel. So the attack will not be unprovoked.
Saying that, I don't hate Iranian people and don't want them hurt.
I rather see Ayatollah regime retiring and Iran becoming a Muslim Democratic Republic.

Nonsense! Iran has not done anything that should provoke a nuclear response. That makes as much sense as you murdering me because I responded to one of your posts starting off with "Nonsense!".

Bill, I think if Lieberman was PM, the war with Gaza Hamas would be much shorter. He would have a real blockade of Gaza, until all hostages are home.
And I think He would have ordered tactical WMD fired on Iran at the
Iran’s massive aerial attack of Israel, that marked the first direct strike by Iran on Israeli territory from Iranian soil. Iran called the attack Operation True Promise.

You don't understand their mind, their mentality. Once they see someone display weakness in the Middle East, that's it.

Lerner, I think if the stuff happened as you suggest that the middle east would be a holocaust wasteland including Israel. Thanks to Russia coming to Iran's "aide". Although I doubt that the holocaust wasteland would be restricted only to the middle east.

You don't understand their mind, their mentality. Once they are attacked like Israel did to the Iranian consulate they can't display weakness and will go all out to get revenge and even the score.

In the past, Iran didn't dare to attack Israel directly without using their proxies. But when Bibi has his red lines turn to jokes, Lebanon Hezbollah and Iran smell weak.
Same for the flight from Afghanistan, Putin sensed weakness immediately.
As to Russia, who know who would hit Russia, maybe some Western countries also Israel is capable to nuke Russia.
I don't advocate to nuke anybody, but things may escalate and simply reflecting to how Liberians words possibly mean.

There was no "weakness" in stopping that useless hemorrhage of money. Even if he did it for the wrong reason, it was the best decision to come out of the Trump administration.
