CIIS is an interesting school. Some would say it's a little flaky but they have some interesting programs. A few of their grad programs are online and can be found here

They have a Masters program in Philosophy, Cosmology and Consciousness that I find interesting. Unfortunately, the price tag is to high for me and so I really stopped paying attention to these programs.

This is exactly how it happened in the 60's too.

 

Three questions:
1. Who in their right mind would take out student loans to pay for that kind of alleged graduate education?
2. Is there an ROI?
3. Do state or federal dollars pay for this program in any way?

 

It's amusing to me to watch you become astonished at discovering that some people have values different than your own.:lol:

 

Maybe you're easily amused, because I think they're all very fair questions.

Why would anyone in their right mind incur debt for such a program? I'm curious as well, because it leads directly to question #2; is there any ROI on such a program? I can't imagine there is, I don't think Apple, Google, JP Morgan Chase, or even the local 7-11 has any positions for someone with such a degree.

I think #3 is especially germane; do government dollars go towards a program that encourages resistance against the government?

 

This program is offered through California Institute of Integral Studies. I find the last two words to be quite amusing.

The topic is started by the guy pursuing a degree in Theology from private, Title V-eligible school. See any problems with that as well?

You know, there's a school of thought that a measure of dissent is healthy for the society and, ultimately, the state as well. I don't have proof for this, of course, but governments not subscribing to this tend to not end well. Especially when they're afraid of "modern artists", as useless as most of these are. Think about it. Oh BTW, that's not an MFA in "Resistance"; that was just a rather cynical ad copy. One class doesn't constitute a major.

Come to think of it, saddling a person prone to "resistance" with student loans might be rather cruel control (resisters would say "oppression") tool. Did THEY think about it?

 

How is it potentially problematic?

The guy who started the topic is pursuing a theology degree:
- without borrowing money (no private or government loans)
- and is receiving a partial-tuition scholarship (without government involvement)
- and is paying the rest with cash

For all you know, so is an anonymous lefty doing the CIIS MFA program. While both schools exist partially thanks to the guaranteed student loans and other government programs. And for the record: if I ever do a Theology Master's, chances are it will be at an unaccredited St. Sophia that gets no federal money in any form.

I merely point out that it bothers you when the government subsidizes someone else's worldview but not your own. It's called "hypocrisy".
P.S. I certainly have no problem with Catholic universities being eligible for student aid. In fact, due to a quirk of Ontario Constitution, my kids go to a Catholic elementary school that's 100% publicly supported.

It's bothersome that tax dollars are supporting anarchy, agitation, and provocateurs -- who are openly using a long-term anarchic methodology to overthrow the United States government and, subsequently, to overthrow the Constitution, and to replace it with global Marxism (aka socialism or communism). President Donald Trump, along with millions of silent Americans, have thrown a monkey wrench into that hideous plan. It will not happen.

Speaking of Soviet dissidents; it seems like your man Jared Kushner had a chat, among other Putin croneys, with Viktor Medvedchuk. Viktor Medvedchuk is a KGB stooge who played a role of "lawyer" in a kangaroo court against prominent Ukrainian poet and dissident, Vasyl Stus. And Medvedchuk will burn in h1ll for this, along with his crimes as a Ukrainian "businessman", politician, and Putin's personal errand boy. That is the company Trump forced you to keep, man. Yes, the First Amendment is an awesome Constitutional protection that is coveted by people around the world. The other Constitutional amendments are equally awesome.

1. Do you believe in the death, burial and physical resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ?

2. Do you believe that the Lord Jesus will return for a second time to the earth?

3. Can a man reject Jesus now in this mortal life -- and also reject him in the eternal life to come -- and then enter the kingdom of heaven?
