The problem being, of course, that McVeigh was never in a militia group. As stated, he hated the Federal government, regardless of who was in charge of it, Republican or Democrat.

Volunteered for Bernie Sanders's campaign, and voted Democrat in 2008, 2012, and 2016.

Granted I'm not an FBI Agent, but I'd say there's a clue there somewhere......

    I didn't say he was a liberal, I said he was a member of the left. The modern left embraces violence to silence their political opponents, fueled by the irresponsible rhetoric of their leaders;

Nonstop Rage: Fountain of Political Youth, Left & Right | National Review

Care to post a reference for that?

"Your arguments are irrefutable, so stop talking" Lame.

Well, at least this is over the computer, so you can't throw bricks at me or set my house on fire, the preferred tactics of the modern left to silence the opposition.

    DUHHHH.......do ya think??

Any politician with a room temperature IQ is going to denounce that. Of course, that didn't stop other leftists like Jesse Benn of the Huffington Post from celebrating the violence, and encouraging more.

Now you're going to put words in my mouth?

In short, he believed that "government is not the solution, but a problem". Not a right wing or conservative position, no siree! Your arguments grow more and more tortured.

Also, loner, seemingly unemployed, clearly unbalanced. My take is these are the reasons for violence; Republican-hating only provided context. Why would you suppose the attacker is representative of anyone?

Similarly, Pittsburgh knife attacker did not kill people because he was white supremacist right wing "patriot"; both the attacks and the ideological stance are in fact manifestations of underlying psychopathy. I'd say history knows examples of left-wing psychopaths (like most leaders of the Communist secret police, CheKa; Putin is one) as well as the right wing (like most leaders of Nazi secret police, and also Putin in his current guise as socially conservative nationalist leader).

Are you ready to call for return to political correctness? Because if you compete for hero cred by offending people (like Trump does), some people will get offended. PC was invented to try and address this.

Happy to oblige: Homegrown Terrorism and Why the Threat of Right-Wing Extremism Is Rising in America.

There are many more links to Putin supporting all kinds of extremists, mostly in Europe. Decline of the commie-supported "freedom fighters" since the Comintern (really, KGB)lost funding in the 1990ies is self-evident.

Of course not; you're just unable to address any of my points about the Right talk radio/TV subculture. Because you know I'm right.

Stanislav, Bruce did an outstanding job of addressing each and every one of your points. He clearly has a lot of patience.

No, absolutely not. You're completely in left field. Hummmm come to think of it, James T. Hodgkinson was also shooting from the left field. Anyway, on a hot day at baseball practice, it takes a very small amount of sweet sugary Kool Aid to wash-down psychotropic dreams.

It looks like Bruce had completed a quest, and gained a minion. Good for him. +1 to Charm.

So maybe you can clear this out. My thesis is this: the recent missteps from the left-leaning entertainers are partially manufaturavercies, but are mostly widely reported because they're NEWS:, ie, not like these people routinely behave. On the other hand, right-wing talk radio gods can get away with this and worse on every show, because that's what is expected of them! They successfully lowered the bar. If you want to refute this, please explain how a Twit about Barron Trump by a liberal nobody (who immediately got censured by her employer) is worse than O'Reilly calling tween Chelsea Clinton "a dog" on national TV. BTW, this ignores tons of neutral or sympathetic coverage Barron gets in the MSM. Or Cathy Griffith ghastly photo shoot, which at least was meant as a parody, is worse than Glenn Beck fantasising, at length, about poisoning Nancy Pelosi? Yep, he went on about putting poison in her wine; his idea of a daydream. How about Rush Limbaugh calling Michelle Obama fat? Or Alex Jones going on and on about how Sandy Hook massacre is a "hoax"? These are all big, important right wing pundits. Going out and saying that the Left is "most hateful", after all this, is unmitigated chutzpah. So is the Right's contention that you guys are the majority and the winners and also, somehow, victims of mean mob of bullies.

When it's your side they're "missteps" from "left-leaning entertainers" that are according to you are "manufaturavercies". But when it's the other side all of the sudden we have "mob's of mean bullies" and suddenly everyone is a "big, important right wing pundits".

I, unfortunately, don't watch/listen to any of the people you mentioned on the right or the left, it all sounds like shitty stuff to say. And, yes it's "entertainment" for window lickers on both side of the isle.

It's interesting how you Jedi hand wave away the left's bullshit and then OMFGBBQCOPTER!!!! with spittle dripping on your keyboard when the right does the very same thing.

A better thesis would be that both the right and left have windbags who say stupid stuff all the time. They're both equal in their nastiness.

As compared to whom? This forum has less charm than a perv leprechaun.

Not that that's different from other fora.

As compared to Bruce before completing the quest, naturally. On the second thought, perhaps this stat is better called "Leadership" in Degree Info's Official D&D Rulebook.

You see, it's rather hard to reason without data. And be as it may, do you really not know who Bill O'Reilly and Rush Limbaugh are?

Well, the truth is that while there are fair amount of windbags saying stupid stuff on the Left, there is no real Left equivalent of the Right-wing talk radio and forms of media stemming from it. I have a feeling that those guys, after scoring a stunning victory in helping elect Trump, are somewhat in retreat, but are still formidable both in nastiness and influence as compared to the lefty pundits.

More to the point: I was responding to Bruce's assertion that "liberals are the most hateful, spiteful, nasty, etc., people around". It seems that we both agree this is unfounded.

Of course I know who they are, but no I don't watch or listen to either of them.

There are more on the radio, because there are more leftist on the television news media. CNN/MSNB/NBC are all left, like Fox is right. The left tried radio and it didn't work out. I'm not sure what your fixation with right wing radio is, I never listen to that either and apparently you listen to a lot of it so I'll have to take your word on the content of said entertainment.

Of course that's unfounded. And we should also agree that, in addition to, me again and (sometimes) Bruce you also engage in political hyperbole.

I was willing to give you the benefit of the doubt until now, but you are truly delusional.

With even a cursory review of left-wing media, you'll be deluged with shrill hysteria about the President and the Republicans being Nazis, racists, traitors, homophobic, xenophobic, etc., etc., etc. They've been trying since the election to dehumanize their opposition (because they can't beat them otherwise), and now it's borne tragic fruit.

    Uh, not quite.

    The Democrats are keeping it classy, as always;

Congressional staffers boo Trump at unity baseball game - Washington Times

Nice, huh? Representative Scalise is still in critical condition, but they boo anyway. Is that your idea of tolerance, compassion, inclusion, and diversity?

Sorry, but right-wing media was at it since the eighties. Also, since 1992, Republican Presidential candidate won popular vote once (2004), so you guys pretending to be this huge majority is a lie. Even in Electoral College terms, last election turned on tiny sliver of votes in three states: great political win, but not a mandate. And that does not even take into account vote suppression and Russian influence, mate.

Of course, there are actual "Nazis, racists, traitors, homophobic, xenophobic, etc., etc., etc."; people you could conveniently refer to "basket of deplorables". They are a minority, but most of them voted Trump this time. Is this just a coincidence? And yes, there are very decent people voting Republican; I've met them. It pains me to realize this time their vote aligned with the deplorables (which was not the case with Romney btw: he got racist vote because of who his opponent was, but didn't actively seek it. It was not even the case with Bush, nor would it be with Rubio or Jeb!.).

Enh, I caught a little of that game on the radio, and Democrats got booed too. It's part of the culture.

I mean yes, I agree that there's a hell of a lot of nastiness on both sides, generally speaking, but at that particular game that's what goes.

Similarly, I might boo the Phillies, but I don't want them to die.

Heck, even Ted Nugent is rethinking his rhetoric. He said something like "Obama should suck my machine gun", and "If Obama gets elected, I will either go to jail, or blah blah blah. Did he really mean it! No, he was just looking to say something outrageous to get head lines. He was cheering his side on so to speak.
