Because I was on hold for a while this morning, I can report that DegreeInfo has had 508,617 posts. So who won the set of Ginsu knives for making post #500,000 a month or two ago?

I can safely say it was not me.

I don't know that there's an easy way to figure that out.

Congratulations Bruce, who seems to have made the five hundred thousandth post on September 7, 2017.

John gives the total number of posts this morning as 508,617.
Rather than this morning, post number that is Stanislav on May 23, 2018. Hypothesis: The total number of posts given under "Messages" at
doesn't include posts that were made and assigned a number, but subsequently deleted by a mod.

This is post 524,841. You can find the number for any post through the date and time stamp bottom row of each post, like where it might say "Kizmet, Wednesday at 9:20 PM," the link on the text "Wednesday at 9:20 PM" includes the post number.

Ginsu knives. Originally, Quickut knives. Made in Ohio and Arkansas. When the founder was asked what "Ginsu" means, he answered, "It means I never have to work again."

As far as I know these knives are still available

However, I'm not certain you can still buy Popeil's Pocket Fisherman
