    Hi DI,

DETC will be holding its accrediting meeting today and tomorrow (January16-17) and soon after we will find out which of the new DETC applicants will be accredited and which DETC accredited schools will be offering new Doctoral programs.

    Take care,

We have made several attempts to place agents within the meeting. Waitresses, busboys, etc. All of our microphones were discovered by the Dept. of Homeland Security and so we are hoping that our live operatives will be able to report some salient details. So far we've only learned that the menu was bland and unimaginative. Our concern is that we'll have to wait for the official report.

My recollection is that DETC doesn't do any timely reports. They never mention schools that don't get it . . . and, while eventually they change their own website and put out a newsletter, they pretty much rely on the schools to send off their own fireworks.

Once, when I was visiting DETC headquarters, their long hallway was piled high with about 50 cartons of materials, apparently ready to be returned to an applicant that didn't make it. The folks there were militant about not ever mentioning the school in question, probably not even that it started with a 'C.'

    Hi DI,
To make it easier for those of you interested in checking on the status of each DETC applicant, a member from another forum provided the web addresses for you.

Possibly. But there's still the issue of the MAIS History & Political Science at Western New Mexico University which I will probably push back to a summer start date due to a hold up in my financial aid application. Of course, if I did do the DBA in Entrepreneurship at California University of Technology, I'd have to be prepared to deal with all the naysayers over at degreedisgusted who think that the DETC is some kind of "accreditation mill."

Then GOD only knows, and he does, what the naysayers think about the ABHE?? (www.abhe.org). ;)

I'm not sure. The big guns over at degreedisgusted seem to think that TRACS is an "accreditation mill" (and Faith Seminary, where I once attempted theological studies, is TRACS-accredited), but I haven't heard what they say about ABHE.

They have a couple of specializations, which to me, makes them attractive. Currently, not many(if none) DETC schools have specializations at the doctorate level.
