I just completed the requirements for the Master of Science in Emergency Management degree at Jacksonville State University and will have the degree awarded at the end of April. I originally enrolled at JSU in the program in 2007 with the intent of taking a couple of classes to transfer. I then decided to get the Graduate Certificate since it was only 15 credits. After completing the cert., I decided that I just had to complete the MS since it required only 3 additional classes on top of 6 transfer credits that I had laying around. It was a good program - relatively cheap and only 30 credits. The only downsides in my view were the 16-week terms and limited elective offerings. With employer TA, my only costs were for books. It only took me five years, but I tied up a loose end hanging over my head - I am sure no one here has ever had that problem. I am going on vacation now and then will use my time to work on publishing several articles that I have at various stages of completion.
Thanks TEKMAN. I have to save my cash and take a break so I can be ready when Georgetown finally starts offering distance learning programs!
You mean like this one? Haha! Online Graduate Certificate in Biohazardous Threat Agents & Emerging Infectious Diseases - Department of Microbiology and Immunology - Georgetown University Medical Center You know what's going to happen when they open that Masters up online right? These credits will transfer right into it. Biohazardous Threat Agents & Emerging Infectious Diseases - Department of Microbiology and Immunology - Georgetown University Medical Center Congrats!
Thanks. At $1,680 per credit, I am going to have to wait until my current boss retires so there will not be anyone around who has any idea of how many TA dollars I have used in the last couple of years.
I don't have any TA through my employment, which is the only thing holding me back from trying that program out. I really think that the full masters program looks great too, but that price hurts my head seeing it. Ah well, maybe I will win the lotto one day.
Congrats Truckie! Don't you have an MBA from NCU too? That would mean you have picked up 1 BA, 3 masters degrees and 1 doctorate. I am impressed.
Congratulations Truckie. I'm starting an "office pool" with the other Mods to see how much time passes before you shoot for that PhD. Side bets are allowed. Post them here.
Way to go! Now get out and enjoy the weather. Also, have your ISP block all traffic to your router from the .edu domain!
