    There's an important difference here between natural appearance and appearance that's intentionally chosen. The latter communicates a lot more about the individual's motivations.

    And like it or not, many of us are going to think that people who choose to permanently disfigure themselves to the point of looking inhuman are expressing some kind of fundamental alienation from the human race. I don't have a lot of problem with reading psychiatric significance into that, even if I'm not a shrink and not qualified to make a formal diagnosis.

    I find it sad and unfortunate, since the individual doing this to him/herself might not feel this way for all of his/her life, but making such radical modifications to their appearance is going to shape their life-choices forever. All they are doing is closing doors and eliminating possibilities that their lives might once have offered them.

    Talking about modifications, here is my friend Dr. Umar's work. He modified my temples that were thinning. I had a good experience.
