    O. J. will reportedly have 400 to 600 grand from his NFL pension. And no one can touch it.

Good point, but image the book deal Spicer can get now!

I really don't know much about Spicer, his background, etc. I don't mind saying that I kind of feel bad for him. He may not have been great at his job but he took a lot of shit just for doing his job - being the front man for Trump. It's an almost impossible job and Spicer was put into some really bad situations through no fault of his own. it's also true that it's not unusual for a president to burn through several Press Secretaries during his term in office.

Indeed he did take shit. That's the hardest work I know - done with that! I didn't know anything about his background either, so I looked him up. 'Way more interesting than I'd thought. He'll land on his feet, I'm sure. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sean_Spicer

Sorry, Tireman - can't see it. Youtube says "The uploader has not made this video available in your country (Canada)."

It amazes me that top-notch American schools like Harvard and MIT make superb-quality course content available free to all, while Corporatist America jealously guards its sitcoms, etc. Surprising what you can get for free - and what you can't. Particularly struck me today, as I downloaded a Python course from MIT about half an hour before I tried to see the video Tireman linked us to.

Entertainment programming is typically licensed on a country-by-country basis. If there's no way for you to see it online, Corporatist Canada is at least as much to blame as Corporatist America.

Canada used to ban much produced in the U.S. for fear of being subsumed into the economic Colossus. The fear, if not the countering policy, was IMO justified.

Because nothing shows what a free country Canada is better than the government telling people what they can watch?

Either way, it's definitely not the fault of "Corporatist America".

Steve and decimon - you both have good points. I take it back. For a few dollars a month, I could buy a VPN and see it if I wanted to, I guess.
As I observed, the good stuff is usually free anyway. So be it. I'll have to settle for only the very best... that's OK.

To be nicer, I'll also add that one of my favorite things about Canada is that it has become a major producer of science-fiction and fantasy TV shows. As I understand it, that started in the '90s because Vancouver was a cheaper shooting location than L.A., and at first it wasn't mentioned that the shows had a Canadian connection, but producers there became more bold about their Canadian identity: eventually the Stargate series of shows had an important character whose Canadian identity was a recurring theme (and one of the planets they visited was named Kelowna); Continuum was openly set in Vancouver; and characters in Wynonna Earp refer to a "cross-border task force" and make a reference to having "called Washington and Ottawa" to leave it purposefully ambiguous where in North America the show is set.

When I was in Vancouver recently, I even happened to walk by a scene being shot, it was a bunch of soldiers running from a school bus into a building. Not sure what show that was for, but as a sci-fi guy it was still a great tourist moment for me.

    Yeah? See below:

    (1) If it's country-by-country, how come I can see this program (SNL) every Saturday night on the Toronto station of a major Canadian network. I have over-the-air TV, no cable, no subscriptions.

    (2) When I was blocked from the Youtube video, I headed over to my favourite European (French) downloader. It fetched the blocked video from the Youtube location nicely and I have an MP4 copy on my local machine.

    (3) So this provision/law/disclaimer proves ONLY ONE THING: Give enough monkeys internet access and one of them will be able to download ANYTHING!

    Any comments, Steve?

    Doesn't that answer the question?

Cloese. It's Scaramucci, Abner. I'd never heard the name before, but I figured it's close to the French "Scaramouche" of fiction, so I looked up Scaramouche and found yes, the character is of Italian origin. I'm sure, like all surnames, the name itself has nothing to do with the character of the person who bears it. I'm not drawing any silly similarities - I report this just out of interest.

Here's an excerpt from the WIki page on Scaramouche:

"Scaramuccia (literally "little skirmisher"), also known as Scaramouche or Scaramouch, is a stock clown character of the Italian commedia dell'arte. The role combined characteristics of the zanni (servant) and the Capitano (masked henchman). Usually attired in black Spanish dress and burlesquing a don, he was often beaten by Harlequin for his boasting and cowardice."

I'm making no comments about Mr. Scaramucci here, except that I wish him luck. His role in the Administration needs a very strong person -- and I think he fits the bill. A page on him here:

No, decimon. It raises the question: Why is the TV station licensed to show it here in Canada, and Youtube can't? Do you mean the Network is forking over money to show it in Canada, but neither Youtube itself nor Canadian Youtubers are? I'm not surprised I could get it via France. Download sites can get ANYTHING.
