I haven't done my annual list of honorary doctorate awardees from accredited schools for quite a while. My last list included, among many others,

King, Dr. Captain Kangaroo, Dr. Sammy Davis Jr., Dr. Yasser Arafat, Dr. Kermit the Frog, Dr. John Wayne, Dr. Jerry Lewis, Dr. Elwood Blues, Dr. Robin Williams, Dr. Chevy Chase, Dr. Dolly Parton, Dr. Soupy Sales, Dr. Michael Jackson, and hundreds of others.

Have to agree with Steve L., if you really knew about the Bible, cared one iota about what it says, you'd know about humility and that would be your starting point, and you wouldn't care jack squat about honorary degrees and pointing to 35 years of work "in the Church" (whatever in the world that means) as justification for anything. You've missed the whole point if you want any acknowledgement from anyone on the face of the earth for that service. If you're not doing it for God, you're not doing it at all, and it's 35 years of wasted time.

 

I'd also add that as a matter of mechanics, with most legitimate honorary degrees it is the school approaching the individual, and not the other way around.
