I agree! I am thoroughly enjoying their MS Psychology program.

Sorry to hear about the enrollment problems, Vinipink. Maybe they had a new person on the job that day? I've had nothing but good experiences with CCU, which I'm hoping will continue.

    Well

As I expected my credit card got the charges reverse.

    Lessons learned:

    1) Do not trust anyone with your cc information even if it is a reputable place of business unless your 100% sure you will make business with them.

    2) You can get charges reverse from your credit card, when someone charges your card without your permission.

    3) Document everything and don't take anything for granted.

    4) Trust your instincts.

    5) Mistakes and stupidity can happen even at high regarded institutions.

    6) When you are right your are right.

    7) Involved as many people as you can. Meaning spread the word when places of business are not doing the right thing.

    8) Campaign, complain, and correct.

It would be nice to received a letter of apology from CCU for their stupid mistake. It would have been a lot cheaper for them to admitting they were wrong settle the matter as soon they became aware of instead of running the issue around.

No hard feelings with CCU and I am glad this happen, because better things did happen after this blunder. I just would not do business with them again (Unless they could offer me something I can use, but for now they don't' have anything).

As one of my drill sergeants in basic training used to say, "The lessons you learn the hardest are the ones you remember the best". :D

Very wise man your drill sergeant!

As the character "Worm" in the first Friday movie used to say: "Playing with my money is like playing with my emotions" Really like this quote. :D

I think it would be very appropriate for someone directly associated with Cal Coast to post here (or at least send a letter which can be posted here) explaining the situation and what steps are being taken to ensure it doesn't happen again.

Many for-profit institutions pay commissions or bonuses to their admissions staff, and it's very possible there was simply an overenthusiastic admissions person seeking to boost his/her numbers for the end of the month or something like that. But if that's the case, CCU would do well to explain.

In the absence of an explanation, the idea that you had to get your refund via the chargeback process with your card issuer is simply appalling. Even if the ball got dropped when you requested a refund from the school, receiving the notice of chargeback from their merchant provider should certainly have generated at the very least a phonecall.

I hope you will hear something from CCU on this. If not, I would strongly suggest that one of the CCU alums contact them and encourage them to do so, because for them to remain silent would not be a good thing.

Hi - This situation reminds me of the times a husband has called to cancel a wife's enrollment and asked for a refund from my institution. First of all, since the record is not the husband's, unless the wife has given her permission for the husband to have access to either her financial or academic records, FERPA prevents the school from giving out any information to the husband. Second, in at least two cases, a pending divorce was involved and the husband was not calling on his wife's behalf but attempting to divert funds to himself and to cause harm to the wife. I don't see that situation here, but I thought it worth mentioning since I don't know whether the husband or the wife made all of the calls to the school. We also don't know for sure what the wife may or may not have authorized the school to do.

As has been suggested, students always have the right to take a complaint to the DETC and the school must respond to the complaint (both to DETC and to the student) within 30 days. In my experience, the responses are handled much sooner than 30 days.

As far as CCU responding here, given that this appears to be an isolated incident, or at least that is my interpretation based on the many excellent comments from CCU students and alums, I am not sure that they should discuss this issue in a public forum since it involves specific student records.

You are correct, that was not the situation. All proper procedures and regulations were follow to avoid violating any laws or not to create speculations. Very bad for CCU they should have known better, there is always a first time for everything. As previous they stated in a letter addressed to my wife, they admit to no wrong doing. I can see that some may read with only one eye.

I have actually sent an email directly to the Dean of Business and told him about this issue. I have even attached this link for him to see. Hope he will do something about it.
