UNISA - Doctorate - need your help

Sounds like my exit cue...

 

One of the guys on here had to wait a year and half to get into the program at Unisa.

 

That would be me.

Do you have any advice on how I could get in faster? Meaning did you do something "wrong" or is it just common practice to let people wait that long.

 

I don't doubt the issue of the waiting period but I have to say that I'd be VERY surprised to learn that there is one and only one degree program at UNISA that requires a residency. Especially for the purpose of attending a course on research methodology. ALL UNISA doctoral programs require knowledge of research methodology because they are, by definition, research degrees. But ONLY the DBL program requires a residency? I'll bet that a little checking would reveal that this is not the case.

 

That is a UNISA thing. You can try Dr Michael Esslen and his folks can help you, but I think it is a UNISA thing.

 

I can only tell you Kismet, I do not have to go to South Africa. My co-chair ( who is at UNISA, Alex Mouton) has stated that quite loud and clear that I do not have to go. I asked that early in the program. Now this is for the history program. All programs are different.
