Over a million sold! From a degree-blog, re. this school:

"In the last decade, they have sold over a million ( read: Million ) PhD (Medicina Alternativa- MA ), MD ( MA ), DSc ( MA ) and a grocery list of other titles in Homeopathy, Acupuncture, Alternative Medicines ( MA ) ."

For a few hundred dollars extra, they'll include a KNIGHTHOOD and/or an ALBERT SCHWEITZER AWARD. LMAO!

    Prof. Dr. Sir Johann

So, just to be clear, I would become a knight of Sri Lanka? I know the female equivalent in the British system is a Dame but I never liked that term. In China there is the term Youxia but it doesn't carry the sense of nobility that "knight" has.

Would I get to go around saying "Ni" all the time?

Not really. It would have the same value, probably, as a degree from this school. If they confer the exact same title on women (and I don't know whether they do or not) you'd be a Knight of the Ecumenical Medical-Humanitarian Order Knights of St John of Jerusalem. certainly nothing from the Government of Sri Lanka. You can see the blurb at www-dot-oiucmed-dot-net/knighthoods/.

I've seen "knighthoods" from other sources where women get the title "Dame" or even, IIRC, in one case "Dame Commandeur"

I'm sure you could say whatever you want - as you can now. First Amendment rights and all that.

Grand Knyaz of Omsk, Tomsk, Minsk & Pinsk. Supreme Voivod of Tobolsk.
Knight Commander of the Eparchy of Southern Ontario.

Please forget that reference to "eparchy." I have no desire to mock any ecclesiastical body, real or imagined. And we're not in Greece or Cyprus, where the term has secular meaning.

So, I'll become Knight Commander of the HIPPARCHY etc. instead. I think the only person who could be legitimately upset with that is Alexander the Great -- and I'll risk his displeasure.

No, because they are now the knights who say "Ekke Ekke Ekke Ekke Ptang Zoo Boing!"

Now cut down the mightiest tree in the forest with....a herring!

Can girls be knights? If not, I'll take a hoodie. I need a new hoodie.

Because they eventually realie what asses they are. It just takes them longer to realize it than it takes the rest of us, who can see it in their initial posts.

But it's okay, we still have someone on the board with two doctorates, and at least he has the capability of being funny.

Yes, Jennifer - there IS a knighthood for you. So Santa will have to bring you that new hoodie.

It appears women can be knights of the OIUCM variety. I was looking on British homeopathic sites and a couple of women advertising on those pages said they had "received knighthoods from OIUCM."

So... as long as we don't have to call you "Sir Jennifer." That would be weird. But if you really insist....

In Great Britain, women who are "knighted" are made dames commander. This is equivalent to knight commander. A lower level of knighthood, the knight bachelor, is available only to men. So all women who are made dames are made dames commander.

    Dame Jennifer.

I think I'll pass, though I appreciate the encouragement. And for the record, being born in the 70's, I was completely unaware that men in the 50's shaved their chests. Huh.
