This is incredibly sad. I had no idea. Thank you for sharing this. He was one of the OGs who truly made this site great.

Just in case the question comes up, this is not a mixup with someone else named Ted Heiks. All of the biographical information in the obituary lines up with everything we know about Ted. Including his middle name, birthday and degrees. There are also multiple obituaries out there for him, including those printed in his local newspaper.

This is our Ted that we lost. We will miss him dearly.

Oh no! I wondered whether something was wrong when we hadn't heard from him in a while, but this is awful. I'm so saddened by this.

RIP to perhaps the most prolific poster in DI history.

  5. I am very, very sad to know this. He was a good man, a fair man, and a good friend for many years in the early days of DI.

Oh dear, I didn't know who Ted was, I was more of a lurker while I was on here, just digging for details on degree programs and options.
I've read a few of his posts before, I am somewhat saddened by the news. RIP, Ted. BTW, how did you find out about this news Dustin?

Ted was consistently and especially generous in sharing what he knew or what he could research about distance education programs. He also had distinctive and reasoned perspectives on countless off-topic discussions. He left this corner of the world much better.

So sorry to read this. He was definitely a valued contributor here for many years. Praying for his family.

Just happenstance. I happened to Google his name after writing in the reading thread and realized the obituary details lined up with what I knew about Ted.
