How do people get Honorary Degree's? I was looking at Westford Education Group and their newly purchased Acacia University (Nationally Accredited). Strange enough, Acacia has Honorary Degrees, but how does one get that? I should ask and see if there is a fee for this too... https://www.acacia.edu/honorary-degree/

"Real" ones - not usually by asking. Nominated by others - and chosen from nominees by committee. Usual ways:

    (a) An alumnus / alumna. who has gone on to achieve prominence - in science, industry, government, arts etc.
    (b) Major donor to the awarding University - new building, football stadium etc
    (c) Major donor to community - e.g. gave millions to build a clinic.
    (d) Celebrity - show biz, music of all kinds, prominent artist / designer, author
    (e) Person who accomplished something major, for public good - making medicine more available etc.
    (f) A life's work dedicated to a good cause

If you can buy one - it's worth nothing. Save your money for a Swiss watch or an Italian suit.

PS 10 or 20 thousand posts on DI are not sufficient cause. I asked. :)

What's the point of an honorary degree anyway? I have a doctorate but don't even use the Dr. title even in an academic setting.Im gonna get a degreee like Black Chyna's so-called "Dmin."

I think you deserve one. I've been here for 20 years and I learned so much from you.

It's not a D, Min. Her degree is a Doctor of Liberal Arts from Sacramento Theological Seminary and Bible College. The School is TRACS=accredited, I believe, and her degree is earned - not honorary.

You can earn one too, with time, study, $10,000 and a letter of recommendation from your pastor. I'm sure the first three are no problem for you, Xspect, but can you swing the last one? :)

Nice shots of Blac Chyna, her kids and her diploma here: https://people.com/tv/blac-chyna-doctoral-degree-religious-liberal-arts/

I looked into this since I'd never heard of this person. STS claims "Transworld" accreditation (though it's not mentioned on their website): https://www.transworldaccrediting.com/schools/sacramento-theological-seminary-and-bible-college Transworld is not CHEA/DOE accredited.

The President is De'Ronald Charles Bradford, who according to his biography, attended (not graduated) "the University of Washington where he majored in business administration and minored in economics. He also holds Bachelor’s in Theology, a Master in Christian Counseling and a minor in Psychology with a Doctorate in Religious Education, all from Sacramento Theological Seminary. In 2004 Dr. Bradford started officially teaching at Sacramento Theological Seminary. In 2007 he became the President of the Board of Directors at Sacramento Theological Seminary. Dr. Bradford is also the President of the Alumni Fellowship and Chief Financial Officer."

So he holds all of his earned credentials from the same unaccredited school where he is President of the school, President of the Alumni Fellowship and also CFO. As the kids say, I am sus.

Thanks Dustin. I messed up. I saw TransWorld and thought of TRACS - a recognized National accreditor. but they're TransNational, not TransWorld. I appreciate being straightened out.

Although the degree certainly isn't what I thought it was, I'm still in Blac Chyna's corner. I think she's trying to do what she thinks is right -- and that counts. Anyway, I love and respect all models - including, of course, Blac Chyna. As an aspiring fashion guy, it's my job to do that -- not that it's difficult, at all, ever. As Donna Summer sang, back in 1983, "She Works Hard for the Money."

Back a few posts, I listed this as a reason to be awarded an Honorary degree:
    (d) Celebrity - show biz, music of all kinds, prominent artist / designer, author

A fine example here - one of my favourite singers. Dianne Reeves holds TWO Honorary Doctorates - from two of the best music schools - Juilliard and Berklee. Well done, Dianne!
