I'm assuming that you have a doctorate, considering you've referred to yourself as Dr. Peter French in the past.

Dr. French has previously listed his two doctorates, one from American Coastline University and another from Summit University.

Haven't doctorates from these two schools been regarded as being "soft?"

Peter French writes, "What doctorate? I have 2 Masters degrees and am now starting my third."

Well yes, that is a reasonable question. The problem with the internet is that it never forgets and cannot be erased. A simple search found postings to a wide variety of newsgroups and forums, from DEOS to uk.education.teachers, from Peter French, Ph.D. (or Ed.D), or Doctor Peter French. Just a few examples:

I am responsible for assessing foreign students for entry into post-compulsory professional 2 year degree/college courses here in Australia. I need urgently to network with others is similar positions - location not important, although Australian TAFE providers would be interesting and beneficial.

Sounds like non-utilitarian and liberal. This is what unviersity education started out to be - it was never meant to be a qualification factory as it has become or 'service station' as Flener described it.

Maybe if more of us looked at the liberal side of our education we would approach it differently and also have more fun? This is partiuclarly important for Americans, as they do tend to take themsleves far too seriously - learn to smile and have a laugh at yourself.

The past decade and the next will be my liberal education experience. I am doing it for me - what I want to do, the way that I want to do it, and bugger everyone esle and their opinions! At some stage everyone (I hope) does, or has cause to, pause and reassess their lives, what they have acheived and where they have ended up, and even maybe how that happened.

I left school at 16 and did everything else the hard way - working fulltime, studying every night and weekend for 10 years - then transferring that aggression and determined mindset into 7 18 hour days a week until 1992. Then reassessment, redirection, reeducation, remarriage, relocation and discovery of the life that I almost came across too late.

So I don't take myself seriously anymore, and if anyone else does - well bad luck :) From 1992 on, my formal education is simply a life learning experience, and what I have done and will yet do, I would not necessarily recommend to someone else. The topic area, the degree level, the method, the institution - the choice is purely personal and of no consequence to anyone but me. However, I would never recommend anything but the best to anyone else, as it must have the greatest degree of utility for them. For me, I don't have to care anymore ... and I don't.

Never mind Peter, it was a rhetorical question. I already know the answer, having traveled from Coastline to Coastline, climbed every Summit to find the truth.

Actually, my whole point was that those who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones about "soft" Ph.D. programs, and it appears you live in a crystal mansion.

Bruce, you clearly don't understand me - there is a massive cultural gulf between Australian and US humour. Maybe you should read some of my recent posts. I'll give up life when i can't take it any more.

Sadly, you are typical of many Americans in that you take life too seriously, me far too seriously, yourself too seriously, and read things wrongly. Hence you frown when you should smile - the cop coming out? You may take the bloke out of the cops, but you will never take the cop out of the bloke. A pity really, and currently I am working with a group of your kin on that exact problem.

The Coastline is being eroded by the very seas that is purports to be related to, but it was never serious, but quite amusing incidentally. I did not climb the Summit alone, but with Mel Suhd and another of his kin here. It was an interesting and very productive experience, but due to its nature and the site of the research, it is embargoed. However, I can say that it has and will continue to benefit many less fortunate than you or I. I did it for me, and never will regret it even for one minute. Would I recommend it to anyone? In principle maybe, in fact it would be no point. It has been adequately recognised where it matters, but so what?

    Happy?

Now take a glass of warm milk, and relax .. Bruce ... no, not like that! Smile, bugger you, SMILE!

Just so I have things straight....you attempt to ridicule a Ph.D. program as "soft", so I ask you where you have your doctorate from. You deny having any doctorate until you're presented with your own past posts where you list yourself as having one. Faced with that, it's now all a big joke and I'm the one with the problem??

You're right Peter, Australian humor must be a lot different, because I surely don't get it.

I thnk that we all understand that - not just about you, but generally.

Well, are you happy now? Have you found out anything you didn't know or I hadn't stated?

I and many others don't share your interpretation of 'ridicule', and you sure don't *get* me, but that is OK as i am used to that.

I was going to leave this group alone and do some outstanding writing, but if i do, you'll believe that you have 'won' whatever it is you are playing - it sure isn't my game - and that I have 'huffed off'.

Enjoy your day - go book someone - jaywalker, or why not someone using a fake degree? :)

You missed a few I do believe, but then it is a nice warm and fuzzy thought to realsie that you counted me worth the time to find this many.

The internet doesn't forget, and can't be erased - well before the internet we wrote letters, and some of us would rather they were nonexistent, but that is life.

I don't have a care in the world, and if others do, that is their problem.

    Enjoy :)
