RA For University of the People

So, with Jan 1, 2022 here, will this be the year UoP gains RA?

 

One to 5 years as a candidate is typical. That they were first accredited by DEAC will probably speed things up (because of that experience, not because the RA cares about DEAC). Could be longer if finances are an issue. Could be never.

 

Does the University of the People offer any promo discounts on their fees? Even if just for a single course?

 

No, but they do offer scholarships to those that need them.

 

Their full price is better than everyone else's discount.

 

Depends. You can get some competency-based degrees for less, but you need to be able to accelerate yourself quickly. UoPeople is the cheapest way to get a degree slowly.

 

Like when you (gasp!) actually have to learn something - not just show that you learned it (and PAID) someplace else? And where can you get a competency-based - or ANY MBA for less than $2400?

 

Excuse me. I just found it's $3,660. The "deal" at Hellenic American is cheaper at $3,000 (and already RA), if it's still available. And maybe a 24/7 all-you-can-eat single semester at WGU???... I withdraw the question. Thanks.

 

A degree from UMPI can be as cheap as $1400 or $2800, depending on which degree you want and how fast you can finish the courses.

 

Wow! That's as cheap as it gets. Speed runs will get you a degree. I reserved my speed runs for beer and pizza. Such a run can be cost-efficient, but not - to me - the optimal way to get educated. YMMV. We each decides what it's worth - we pays our money and takes our choice. Sump'n for everyone.

Only way to "accelerate" at HAU is take many courses as on offer at once. Thus I am doing 3 right now and my thesis..all to be finished by May 20th.

Note, you get a capstone or thesis choice, capstone you solve a real life business problem working with a business, thesis you make a proposal and see if they approve. Normal thesis approval stuff. Good new, no animals will be harmed in the process of my thesis on a safe harbour in the Gig economy..lol. my own brain cells may be and I may regret a thesis over a capstone, next few weeks will tell but did manage 3 pages so far today. Now about to pivot to a few hours of PowerPoint for a digital marketing analytics presentation due Thursday.

In other word, HAU may be I expensive with the deal we got, it may be a very small never heard of unranked school, but the program is a very real do the time MBA.

I did take some classes on the 15 week term schedule out of Athens campus, they have been good, they have also been some written assignments every week, very much like capstone business at TESU. No exams however, papers, PowerPoints and a couple video presentations on zoom.

Actual zoom class meetings have been pretty much 2-3 hrs every second or third week, that is both Nashua 7 week classes and Athens 15 week classes.

I started my first class in Sophia working towards my BSBA on Many 21, 2020, I shall be done with the MBA work by May 20, 2022. Grad in June. All in right at $10,300. (Had I known about when I started this, UMPI is what I would have done there and saved 2-3,000)

Each is RA and while certainly not an IVY, even a guy in his 50's that really isn't doing this for work reasons will get a ROI, if you are younger, it will be an amazing ROI and game changer.

So, folks on fence as I was a long time, you can do it, jump in!

I'm sure you did fine, Steve. Don't worry - nobody else is THAT good! Especially while still in their teens. An unreasonable expectation.

 

I remember Oral Roberts' "appeal." Yes - preposterous. Says a lot about the man. Lord High Executioner? DI could use THAT guy, sometimes! I did regular, non-musical theatre all through High School. Loved it - I've always had histrionic / showoff tendencies.

I was only in a musical production once. I played an MC in a Paris nightclub, welcoming audience, introducing performers etc. in French. I did have a part in a Ukrainian class Christmas play, about 27 years after High School, where I played some music for a dancer. My role was the 'traditional' Jew, who is always included in such productions. I asked for the part, as a learning experience. It was a very good one indeed.

 

It looks like University of the People has a generous credit transfer policy, even for their graduate degrees. Has anyone had any experience with this?

Are there any free ECTS credits out there that could be transferred in to the MBA or M.Ed. degree at UoP? Maybe this could cut down on the “fee” cost of a UoP degree?

 

XAMK sometimes has graduate-level business courses available. Not always 100% free, but still pretty cheap. I think you would need to be able to take at least two in order to be cheaper than UoPeople @ $300/course for UoPeople.

For the M.Ed degree, look into VESi courses. https://www.virtualeduc.com/courses.php Some of them cost more than UoPeople, others would be just slightly under UoPeople. UMPI will supposedly transcribe VESi courses as graduate credit and not CEUs if you ask, but I would contact them about that first. If they will do that, it's either $65 or $75/credit.

 

I seem to remember something about XAMK not wanting to provide transcripts except via email to the student themselves which made it hard to get them verified or transferred. I think this may relate to only free courses offered by XAMK maybe?
