I heard that John McCain might consider Condoleza Rice. Of course I can't say that's true, but it would surely be interesting. While the democrats have a women and african american running, Dr. Rice would fit both of those characteristics.
+1 - McCain/Rice would be the GOP's best chance at countering the Obama/XXXX or Hillary/XXXX ticket. Talk about a momentum killer.
Agreed. I was just referring to match-ups - don't see it happening though. I would have likeed to be a fly on the wall in both Obama and Hillary's camps when they found out Nader was entering the race. He will do the same thing to either one of them that he did to Gore in 2000 - steal just enough of the extreme left votes to keep the G.O.P. in office. Just my prediction.
Rice just announced she has no desire to run for political office and will probably return a her position as provost.
If the Democrats nominate Hillary, then you may be right -- it's not just conservatives who don't like her, and while some liberals will be enthusiastic about her there may be others who don't want to see her in the White House. If the Democrats nominate Obama, however, then I don't think Nader could be a factor. -=Steve=-
Teddy lost his fastball a long time ago, and would be nothing but a liability in this campaign. I don't even like the guy, and I'm embarrassed to watch him try to speak in public when it isn't 100% scripted.
Agreed - Nader is an idiot. If one person votes for Nader, then that vote is being taken away from the Dem. candidate no matter who it is. And the left seriously wonders why they have had problems as of late..................
What would be nice is if the Cabinet selection process could be so arranged as to make back-room deals in advance. If Nader really does run, the Demos should be allowed to try to buy him off with a position as Secretary of Transportation (where he could spend the next four to eight years forcing big bad car companies to stop making cars that are unsafe at any speed). If Perot were to try to run again, the Repubs should be allowed to try to buy him off with a position as Secretary of the Treasury (where he could spend the next four to eight years implementing his financial ideas). That way, extremist candidates would not be in a position to steal enough votes to allow a president with a minority of the vote.
