As I noted earlier in the thread, the outfit conducting these programs is in California.

What is not clear is whether this bunch is an organic part of GWU or a subcontractor. It may not make a material difference--I'm sure you'll get your education and your GWU degree, but still, it would be nice to know.

Good questions. I am going to shoot an email to them and ask some questions before completing the decision form. I have until July 18th to accept or deny the offer.

Same here! I chose DBA at ESGCI, a research program focusing on digital business and marketing utilizing artificial intelligence. It is only $8,500.00 that I can afford out of my pocket instead of $85,000.00 at GWU. :D

    Just an update:

I am going to see if the program will accept a deferral and if not, I will be declining the offer. Last Monday, we had a 6 week old baby placed in our home from the local DHS/CPS office. Any aspirations of pursuing a doctorate will be placed on hold or let go of forever.

I do appreciate everyone here on DI!

You don't have to give up on earning a doctorate. Even 20 years down the road, you can decide to go back to school to pursue your doctorate if that's your ambition.

I started at 26, and now I still don't have one. Hopefully when I am 42 in 2 years. :D

Josh, what you are doing here, for a 'little somebody' who needs loving care, shows what great people you and your wife are. I'm sure, if you want one, you'll earn a fabulous doctorate, somewhere down the line -- but this, what you're doing right now, earns you more acclaim, in my eyes, than any academic degree. This is beyond a Ph.D. It's brilliant beyond words.

I hope someday you can teach an advanced course in decision-making. You always seem to make the right ones. :)

Congrats, great work! It's a very interesting program, price point is great for those who can get some tuition assistance and/or reimbursement along with some savings, and maybe even a scholarship... Alas, there are other programs that interest me more... Again, congrats on getting in, defer your entry if possible!

Yup, I agree...family first, you can always study for your Doctorate; however, your kids are only once. That was why I dropped out of my Ph.D. at Nova Southeastern University to focus on my kids as a full-time single dad after the divorce, even though I was about to step into the research courses.

Maybe it is time to go back to the program?

I suspect that candidates snagging $900,000 job offers are coming out of highly ranked, brick-and-mortar PhD programs like those offered by Stanford, Carnegie-Mellon and MIT which is where the current crop of highly paid AI specialists at companies like Google came from.

That is total compensation, not straight salary. $300k to $900k is the range. I'm sure only highly experienced individuals are hitting $900k.

Interestingly enough, I had a professor from Duke Fuqua who went to Carnegie Mellon’s Tepper School of Business to teach. He reached out to me this past week asking if he could use me as a reference for a promotion at the school. I was honored.

While I’d love to, my focus is on my wife, kids, and our foster baby. My wife and I are just getting started with DHS/CPS on the actual foster approval and we have had various meetings with DHS and a court date for September 7th. I made an attempt and it was obviously not meant to be.
