Are those lovely people you and your family, Bruce?

    No. :D

My path in life was old school dad--->military school--->Army--->National Guard--->police department, so I never had the opportunity to grow knarley poofed-out 80's hair.

    That's a full-fledged felony!

(Oh, btw, I'm predicting the Celtics in 6).

So, you're saying you didn't have time for a bad hair decade? :D

    Exactly.

That was a great Game 1. Kevin Garnett's first-half performance has silenced the critics who question his big-game viability, and Paul Pierce's comeback from an injury was right out of Willis Reed's playbook.

With the 2-3-2 format the Celtics will have to win tomorrow (Sunday) in order to feel at all comfortable traveling to LA. My prediction - Ray Allen will shine on Sunday and the Celtics will coast to a win.

I wouldn't say they coasted (how was your pucker factor in the 4th quarter?), but a win is a win! :D

You're right, they gave up a big lead. Also, Allen only had 17 points. I thought it would be more like 21-23 points. Not my best prediction.

Still, the Celtics have to be feeling pretty good. They only have to win one of the next three and then they'll be in good shape coming back into Boston. Both of these teams are capable of a big blowout. I'm betting that the Lakers are going to push really hard to make that happen tonight.

I turned off the TV at about 10:10. The Celtics were down by nine. I've got to get some sleep. Can you sleep with your fingers crossed?

The Lakers seemed determined to give this one away, but the Celtics came up short. That's okay; no one expected a sweep for either side, and this potentially gets the series back to Boston.

So, what's the won-lost now for the Celtics-Lakers series?

    Celtics in six sounds right!

It should be clear at this point. The Celtics are simply the better team. I'll be taking a nap on Sunday afternoon so that I can watch the whole game that night. There may not be another.

I think it is all going to be over tonight. How could the Lakers come back after being so humiliated on Thursday?

Oh, BTW. Since there's nothing much going on in the world of Boston sports I thought I'd post this article that clearly indicates that Arlen Specter is an asshole. Now that it's clear that there never was any "spygate" (just another US Senator who's been bought and paid for) now suddenly he's "too busy" to pursue the matter. If you live in Pennsylvania you should be very upset that your elected representative has been so clearly purchased.

Go ahead, try and defend him.

OK. It's halftime in game 6. The Green are up by 23 points. We all know that the Lakers will make a run. Does anyone want to bet on the Lakers at this point?

    No, I didn't think so.

What an embarrassing display by the Lakers.

That was like watching the 1992 Olympics....USA vs. Angola.

I never would have imagined that the Lakers would fold like they did. I waited through the whole third quarter expecting a Laker comeback. I know that the Celtics are a better team but the Lakers are much better than they showed last night. It really was embarrassing for them.

OK Bruce, now we need to dust off the Red Sox thread.

One of the most touching moments last night was after the final buzzer, Kevin Garnett looking for and finding Bill Russell (who has become KG's mentor) for an extended hug and asking if he had made him proud. Russ responded "You sure did".

    :D
