Pretty cool promo video by Pepperdine. I had to share! "Reputation The only DBA taught by a top ranked AACSB accredited US business school in Southern California." This DBA can be had for the low cost of $167,670. https://bschool.pepperdine.edu/programs/doctor-of-business-administration/
The University of San Diego also offers DBA in Luxury Good and Marketing in collaboration with ESCGI DBA in Luxury Marketing and Legal Issues. URL: https://www.sandiego.edu/events/law/detail.php?_focus=53761 URL: https://www.esgci.com/marketing-luxe/dba-en
DBA over 160K, interesting indeed. If I get a full ride, sure thing, let's do it! But that's highly unlikely, too expensive anyways... @TEKMAN , what's the tuition for your current DBA in Digital Business & Marketing?
The pricing for the program varies significantly, it's $20K USD direct from Upgrad, if you go from a partner, it's 800K INR/10K USD here: Doctorate of Business Administration | ESGCI (talentedge.com)
$8,500.00 for me. You can request scholarship with UpGrad: https://www.upgrad.com/doctor-of-business-administration-from-esgci/?ref=HENR456
I didn't realize you were doing a DBA. Does the school check the accreditation box? I'm not familiar with it, so pardon my question.
According to previous posts maybe not. The Parent school of ESCGI does have this authority (Paris School of Management), but the prevailing comments at DI about ESCGI's own accreditation-or-equivalent for State-recognized Doctorates were not positive. The most encouraging was a "not sure" from TEKMAN. I'm also "not sure." I think ESCGI is a cut-price deal. You get the same (expensive) course from ESCGI as you do from its parent, Paris School of Management, but from a subsidiary school of lesser standing. I could always be wrong (once in 1976, again in 2013) but that's what it LOOKS like to me. Here: https://www.degreeinfo.com/index.php?threads/upgrad-new-french-dba.61973/page-2#post-584488
Yeah, I did the whole due diligence about the school before I make decision to apply for it. https://www.degreeinfo.com/index.php?threads/upgrad-new-french-dba.61973/ ESGCI is part of the ESG schools include Paris School of Business (Formerly ESG MS) with AACSB, AMBA, ad EFMD accreditations. Most of the professors at ESGCI are the same professor at Paris School of Business. URL: https://www.esg.fr/ ESCGI is not AACSB, AMBA, or EFMD accreditation; but it is approved by the French Government.
I see. Question: How did you manage to confirm with the Ministry that ESGCI Doctorates are State-recognized. Even in at least half-decent French, I've NEVER had a reply to email enquiries. I just figured they didn't answer questions from people beyond their borders, because France-based DI posters always received prompt answers. What's the secret?
OK - even without a call to the ministry - I'm fairly convinced. But when a school cuts the program price by 2/3 and offers it through another (related) school, it gives pause to wonder HOW they do it and WHY? I'm still not sure of that, but... oh, why NOT? UPGRAD has a statement that's worth reading: "Disclaimer upGrad does not grant credit; credits are granted, accepted or transferred at the sole discretion of an educational institution. upGrad does not make any representations regarding the recognition or equivalence of the credits or credentials awarded, unless otherwise expressly stated. If you intend to pursue a post graduate or doctorate degree upon completion of this course or apply for employment which requires specific credits, we advise you to enquire further regarding the suitability of this degree for your academic and/or professional requirements before enrolling." Good advice. TEKMAN, I, too, wish you well on your doctoral journey. Please keep us posted.
The cost of a DBA from a "maybe recognized" university isn't the tuition. It's the years of work and research, not to mention the opportunity cost (of not going elsewhere).
Here's Ana's LinkedIn page. Apparently, she completed her DBA in 2021 and is now a post-doc and adjunct at Pepperdine, among other things. https://www.linkedin.com/in/anamaritabrant
I about choked when I saw the price of that degree. Not to mention it all feels like spin with a fancy video. I mean, how would she define the difference between blue water territory that every other company wants to create vs luxury? Meanwhile, I'll take a hard pass.
Not abnormal for AACSB DBA programs to be mid to high six figures. Personally, I’m not sure I’d spend the money on it.
I guess accreditation isn't cheap. Schools spend thousands to maintain these accreditations. If you want to be a faculty, get a fully funded AACSB-accredited Ph.D. If you plan to stay corporate, what the heck do you need an AACSB-accredited DBA for? Get one at Liberty or elsewhere because I don't think having a DBA in the corporate world will matter!
