I was feeling snarky when I got home from work today and decided to log on to the Ashwood University (degree mill) website and chat with a representative. They claim to be accredited by such uhh...austere (cough) organizations as the Board of Online Universities Accreditation (BOUA) World Online Education Accrediting Commission (WOEAC). Both totally bogus, so I thought I would chat with a rep to see how they defended their homemade accreditation. Notice how Zack uses the term "REGIONAL" I used the name "Mark" Notice Zac's questionable grammar. Zack Stevens: Hi! let me assist you with the application and evaluation process. Zack Stevens: How are you doing? Mark: Actually, I had a question about your accreditation. Mark: Fine and how are you? Zack Stevens: Sure go ahead Zack Stevens: I am fine too thanks for asking Mark: I do not recognize the accreditations for your school, but I'm no expert. Are those accreditations recognized by the US Department of Education? Zack Stevens: The accreditations are internationally recognized which obviously makes them recognized in the U.S Mark: But are they approved by the Department of Ecucation? Zack Stevens: It is necessary for those accreditation to be recognized by them who claim to be REGIONAL and are accrediting a college with a physical campus and class rooms. Zack Stevens: Since we are an online university and work globally and are not bound to a region, state or country it is no necessary for us. Mark: Not that it really matters, but it sounds like they are not listed then? Zack Stevens: Yes you can take it that way. Zack Stevens: We are fully accredited and accepted globally and are proud about it.
